안전한 보육환경 조성 관련 어려움에 대한 가정 어린이집 원장들의 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 안전한 보육환경을 조성하는 과정에서 가정 어린이집 원장들이 느끼는 어려움에 대해 알아보았다. 연구를 위해서 서울과 경기도 지역에 위치한 가정 어린이집의 원장 8명을 면담하고 Polkinghorne(1995)이 제시한 내러티브에 대한 분석 방법을 통해서 참여자들의 면담 내용을 주제별로 분석하였다. 분석 결과에 따르면 가정 어린이집 원장들이 공통적으로 경험한 어려움은 재정적인 어려움, 과도한 업무량으로 인해 안전관리에 대한 어려움, 교사관리의 어려움, 평가인증을 통과하기 위한 작업에 따른 교사들의 보육활동에 있어서 소홀함과 이에 대한 해결책 모색에 있어서의 어려움과 전염성이 있는 질병에 걸린 아동들의 등원 문제에 대해서 부모의 협력을 구하는 것에 대한 어려움, 무상보육 시행 이후 아동 수 증가로 인한 보육과 감독의 어려움 등이 있었다. 참여자들은 사후대책식 지원 정책이 아닌 원활한 대체교사 공급이 필요하다고 제안하였으며 이러한 외부 지원 체계를 강화하고 보육 시스템을 전반적으로 재구조화함으로써 어린이집에서의 아동 안전 확보가 가능하다고 하였다.

영문 초록

This study examined family child care center directors’perceived difficulties in constructing safe learning environments for young children. For the participants of this study, eight directors in family child care centers located in Seoul and Kyounggi areas were selected and interviewed. The texts drawn from the interviews were thematically analyzed based on the methods used for Polkinghorne s(1995) analysis of narratives. According to the result of the analyses, the directors’perceived difficulties include the following: financial issues, negligence towards safety issues due to teachers’overload, management of teachers, overloads in working towards evaluative accreditation, collaboration with parents in regard to the attendance issues of children with contagious disease, and difficulties in caring children due to increase in the number of children in care; increased workload. The participants suggested that substitute teachers should be provided without any friction and that government systems should not give any ex post facto support. Child safety in child care centers can be ensured by strengthening external support systems through governmental actions and restructuring the overall child care system.
