아버지와 어머니, 누가 더 걸음마기 자녀 기질의 신뢰로운 정보 제공자인가?

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 걸음마기 자녀를 둔 아버지와 어머니 가운데 누가 더 자녀의 기질에 대해 신뢰로운 정보를 제공할 수 있는지 알아봄으로써 후속 연구에서 걸음마기 자녀의 기질을 평가할 때 정보 제공자를 효율적으로 선정하도록 돕는 데 있다. 이를 위해 부부 40쌍(80명)을 대상으로 성인 기질 질문지(ATQ), 걸음마기 기질 질문지(ECBQ), 한국판 애착 Q-test를 사용하였다. 연구 결과, 부모 모두 자신의 기질과 자녀의 기질을 혼돈하지 않고 독립적으로 평가할 능력이 있으나 애착발달과의 관련성을 토대로 유추할 때 아버지는 자녀를 양육하거나 상호작용한 경험의 부족으로 자녀의 기질을 정확히 파악하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 추후 부모를 대상으로 적어도 걸음마기 자녀의 기질을 포함하는 연구를 계획할 때는 어머니로부터만 자녀의 기질에 대한 정보를 구하여도 좋을 것이라는 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to provide useful information on who, either mother or father, is the more reliable reporter of their child s temperament in toddlerhood. Forty pairs of husbandwife dyad participated in this study. Adult Temperament Questionnaire(a short form), Early Childhood Behavior Questionnaire, and Attachment Q-set in Korean version were used for the research purpose. The results showed that the husband and wife dyad were able to independently evaluate his/her own temperament and their child s temperament without confusing with each other s temperament. However, the fathers seemed to somewhat inaccurately evaluate their child s temperament considering the few and low level of correlations between fathers report of their child s temperament and attachment. The results of this study imply that researchers studying temperament of children in toddlerhood are able to collect reliable data by asking only mothers to report her child s temperament.
