비판적 다문화교육 관점에 따른 고등학교 미술 교과서 분석

국문 초록

오늘날 세계적으로 다문화주의가 점점 더 중요한 쟁점이 되는 동시에 그에 대한 반격 현상이 두드러지고 있다. 본 연구는 이에 대한 교육적 대안으로서 비판적 다문화 미술교육에 주목하고, 우리나라 2015 개정 고등학교 미술 교과서 10종 안에 비판적 다문화교육의 관점이 적절히 반영되어 있는지 분석함으로써 효과적인 다문화 미술교육의 방향을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 다문화교육의 내용요소(인종·민족, 성, 장애, 사회계층, 문화)와 비판적 인식의 논점(차이와 편견, 자유와 평등, 정체성과 소속감)을 분석의 기준으로 삼아 현행 미술 교과서의 도판 및 도판 설명, 본문 내용을 양적·질적 분석을 함께 진행하였다. 그 결과, 현행 교과서에는 특정 인종·민족과 문화, 여성 미술, 장애인 문화에 대한 내용이 상대적으로 부족한 것으로 드러났으며, 그러한 내용이 실리더라도 작가의 본래 의도를 드러내는 방향으로 다루어지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 비판적 다문화교육과 관련된 표현활동이 체험이나 감상활동에 비해 부족한 것으로 파악되었다. 이 연구는 비판적 다문화교육의 관점에서 현행 고등학교 미술교과서의 다문화교육 관련 내용을 구체적으로 분석하고 개선 방향을 제안하였다는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Today, multiculturalism has become a more important issue, while multiculturalism backslash has also emerged. This study attempts to focus on critical multicultural art education as an educational alternative and to suggest effective direction of multicultural art education. The study analyzed how adequately critical multicultural perspective was reflected in the current Korean high school art textbooks, which were revised in 2015. Multicultural contents of these textbooks were analyzed based on two criterions―the content elements of multicultural education, the point elements of critical multicultural art education using quantitative and qualitative methods. This study revealed that contents about artworks of specific racial and ethnic groups, and women or handicapped artists were very few, while the multicultural contents were not covered in a way to show artists’ original intention. In comparison to the contents areas for experience and appreciation, there were few for art production with the critical perspective. This study is significant due to its attempts to analyze all the current high school art textbooks in detail and to prose a direction for improvement with a cirtical multicultural perspective.
