국문 초록

본 연구는 어린이 그림책에 나타난 아이러니(irony)를 이해해보고자 시도되었으며, 그림책의 아이러니가 본질인가 그렇지 않은가에 대한 문제의식으로부터 출발하였다. 아이러니는 어린이 그림책의 중요한 질적 요소이며 연구할 가치가 있는 한편, 그림책의 아이러니가 본질적인 것인지 아니면 아이러닉한 그림책이 따로 있는 것인지는 근본적인 면에서 논쟁의 여지를 남기고 있다. 이는 아이러니 개념의 스펙트럼(spectrum)으로 인하여 발생될 수 있다고 판단하여 본 논문에서는 수사학적 아이러니, 문학적 아이러니, 철학적 아이러니의 관점에서 어린이 그림책에 나타난 아이러니를 이해하고자 하였다. 연구의 결과, 모든 그림책은 본질적으로 아이러니하다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 그림책에 내포된 아이러니의 현저한 정도와 우수한 질적 수준은 아이러닉 그림책(ironic picturebook)의 보편적 판단 기준으로 작용하며, 아이러니는 글과 그림 간의 이질적 관계에서 뿐만 아니라 독자적인 글 텍스트 또는 그림텍스트에서도 나타날 수 있다고 결론지을 수 있었다. 또한 성인에게도 어려울 수 있는 어린이 그림책의 아이러니가 유아 독자에게 적합한 것인지를 숙고하였으며, 아이러니 이해는 유아의 메타언어 인식(Metalinguistic Awareness)의 발달과정에서 매우 중요한 역할을 하고, 인류의 밝은 미래를 창조할 아이러니스트(ironist)로서 자기 삶의 주인이 되도록 지원할 수 있는 중요한 통로가 된다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있었다

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to understand the irony in children s picture books. The study started with a sense of problem that Is the irony of picture books the essence? While irony is an important qualitative element of picture books and is worth studying, whether the irony of the picture book is essential or whether there is an ironic picture book is left behind in the fundamental sense of controversy. This could be caused by the spectrum of irony concepts. In this paper, I tried to understand the irony in children s picture books from the viewpoint of rhetorical irony, literary irony, and philosophical irony. As a result of the study, all picture books are essentially ironic. But the quality of the picturebook’s irony is a standard of universal judgment of the ironic picture books and can be concluded not only in the heterogeneous relationship between writing and painting, but also in its own words or visual text. I pondered whether the irony of a child picture book, which can be difficult for adults, is suitable for infants. Irony understanding plays a very important role in the development of infant metalinguistic awareness, I was able to find the significance of this study in that it became an important channel to support the master of his life as an ironist to create a bright future for mankind.
