다문화 교육프로그램이 중학생의 비형식적 다문화 경험과 다문화 인식에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

이 연구는 전북지역 중학생을 대상으로 다문화 교육프로그램의 효과 분석을 통한 프로그램 적용에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전북지역 중학생 68명(실험집단 2개반 34명과 통제집단 2개반 34명)을 대상으로 하였다. 각 집단은 프로그램 실시 전에 사전검사, 프로그램 실행 후 사후검사를 하였고, 프로그램 종료 5주 후에 추후검사를 실시하여 검사 시기별 차이를 분석하였다. 이 연구에서 사용된 <다문화 교육프로그램>은 중학생의 비형식적 다문화 경험과 다문화 인식요인 향상에 초점을 두고 개발되었다. 연구결과 다문화 교육프로그램은 중학생의 비형식적 다문화 경험 및 다문화 인식 수준을 높이는데 도움이 되었다. 사후검사 결과 다문화교육프로그램은 중학생의 비형식적 다문화 경험 수준과 다문화 인식에 있어서 의미있는 효과가 있었다. 특히 다문화 인식 하위 요인 중에서 인지적요인과 정의적 요인이 행동적 요인에 비해 높은 효과를 보였다. 추후검사 결과에 있어서도 중학생의 비형식적 다문화 경험과 다문화 인식에 대한 프로그램의 효과가 지속되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 연구결과에 따르면 다문화 교육프로그램은 중학생들의 다문화 경험과 다문화 인식수준 향상을 위해 적용 가능한 프로그램으로 판단되었다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted with the aim of evaluating immediate and persisting effect of multicultural education program to middle school students in Jeonbuk province. To proceed with this study, 68 middle school students were selected (34 students in 2 classes as a experimental group and other 34 students in 2 classes as a controlled group). Each group was conducted pre-test before the program. To experimental group, however, post-test which was to evaluate the difference in participants 5 weeks after the program, was conducted after 12th session of program. The ‘multicultural education program’ applied in this study is a program consists of 12sessions, developed to enhance the informal multicultural experience and the degree of multicultural awareness for middle school students. The results of this study are as follows. First, the multicultural education program showed immediate and persisting effects on middle school students’ informal multicultural experience. Second, the multicultural education program showed immediate and persisting effects on enhancing the degree of middle school students’ multicultural awareness. To conclude, the multicultural education program for middle school students was helpful to the degree of both informal multicultural experience and multicultural awareness. In this respect, it can be suggested that the multicultural education program being adapted to middle school curriculum to provide appropriate view toward multi-culture.
