자유선택활동 후 이루어지는 놀이평가활동이 만5세 유아의 언어 발달에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 자유선택활동 후 이루어지는 놀이평가활동 참여 여부가 만5세 유아의 언어 발달에 미치는 효과가 어떠한지를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구를 위한 실험집단은 J시에 위치하고 있는 A어린이집 만5세 유아20명이며 비교집단은 B어린이집에 만 5세 유아 20명이다. 사용된 측정도구는 언어능력 검사도구에 포함된 수용ㆍ표현어휘력검사, 구문의미이해력검사도구이다. 자료분석을 위한 통계기법은 SPSS 19.0 프로그램을 이용하여 사전 검사 후 실험집단과 비교집단의 동질성 여부를 알아보기 위해 독립표본 t-검정을 실시하였고, 자유선택활동 후 놀이평가가 유아의 언어발달에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위하여 실험집단과 비교집단의 사전검사와 사후검사 간의 차이값에 대하여 독립표본 t-검정을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 자유선택활동 후 놀이평가활동은 유아의 언어발달에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 자유선택활동 후 이루어지는 놀이평가활동을 통하여 유아들은 또래의 언어적 표현을 들으며 접하게 된 다양한 어휘들을 사용하고, 여러 사람의 의견을 모아 공동의 의미로 구성해 나가는 능력이 발달됨으로써 언어능력이 향상되었음을 보여준다. 또한 유아교육기관에서 소홀해 질 수 있는 놀이평가활동을 구체화함으로서 놀이에 기초한 평가의 방향을 제시하였다는데 그 의미를 둔다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of participation in a play evaluation after free-choice activity on the language development of five-year-olds. The experiment group included 20 five-year-olds at A Daycare Center in J City, and the comparison group included 20 five-year-olds at B Daycare Center. Employed in the study to measure young children's language ability were the Receptive and Expressive Vocabulary Test and the Sentence Comprehension Test. As for statistical techniques for data analysis, the SPSS 19.0 program was used to conduct the independent sample t-test after the pre-test to examine homogeneity between the experiment and comparison group. The independent sample t-test was also performed for differences between the pre- and post-test results of the experiment and comparison group to examine the effects of play evaluation after free-choice activity on the development of young children's language ability. The findings were as follows: play evaluation after free-choice activity turned out to have effects on the development of young children's language ability including expressive and receptive language and sentence comprehension. These findings indicate that young children got to use various vocabulary words to which they were exposed while hearing the verbal expressions of their peers and develop the ability of gathering opinions from many people and building them into a common meaning in play evaluation after free-choice activity, thus improving their language ability.
