성인 미술치료에서 심상체험의 의미

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 미술치료로써 자기에 대한 이해를 도모하고자 하는 성인들의 심상체험 과정을 현상학을 이론 적 기반으로 삼는 질적연구를 통하여 구체적으로 드러내 보고자 하였다. 연구에서 전체 심상체험의 과정은 심 상의 형상화와 형상화된 심상을 바라봄의 이야기로 나뉘었다. 연구 결과 심상체험의 의미는 다음과 같았다. 첫 째, ‘비유’로서 나처럼, 내 마음처럼 그림에 나타난 심상을 거리를 두고 바라보며 자기 마음과 느낌을 투영해가 며 자기를 알아갔다. 둘째, ‘마음을 꺼냄’으로 눈으로 볼 수 없는 추상적인 마음의 감정과 느낌들을 색과 형태 로서 눈으로 볼 수 있는 것들로 가시화가 되었다. 이로 인해 치료사와 소통이 더욱 원활하게 되었으며, 막연했 던 내 마음이 구체화가 되고, 명료화가 되었다. 셋째, ‘낯섬’으로 그들의 그림은 그리려던 자신들의 의도와 달리 그려졌다. 자신이 직접 그린 그림의 낯설음을 통해 의도와 그 결과 사이의 내용을 봄으로써 또한 자기를 알게 되었다. 넷째, ‘동행’으로서 심상은 연구참여자들 각자의 일상의 경험과 나란히 갔다. 일상의 경험들이 심상 츌 현의 진원지였고, 일상의 경험적 순간에 미술치료실에서의 그림이 떠올라 그 그림의 이야기가 바로 지금 여기 서의 나의 이야기임을 알아차리게 해주었다. 이 연구는 미술치료에서 심상체험의 구체적 과정들을 보여주고, 이로 인해 미술치료에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓힐 수 있다는데 의의를 둘 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study sought to elucidate a more specifically the process of lived-experience in the art therapy through the qualitative research method where the theoretical foundation is derived from phenomenology. First, participants regarded the image of a drawing as though it represented their own state of mind, and the images were drawn in accordance with participant's state of mind. “As though” was a metaphorical expression, and participants began to know themselves by projecting their feelings through drawings. Second, the abstract sentiments and feelings that could not be visualized as images become visible in colours and forms. It is through colours and forms that the qualitative dimension of the mind is transferred into its quantitative dimension, and the mind becomes visible. Owing to this, the ambiguity of the mind and thinking is made concrete and clear. Third, there was a discrepancy between the intended drawing and the actually painted. The patients became self-aware through the uncanniness caused by their own drawings, when they faced up to the differences between their intentions and the results. Finally, images were parallel to the everyday experiences of the participants. This research has shown the concrete process of the above mentioned image-experience in the art-therapy, and its pivotal meaning lies in the fact that it pursues to broaden the previous understanding of the art therapy.
