미술관 미술치료: 융합과 협업의 가능성에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

대안적 심리치료로서의 미술치료에 대한 사회적 관심과 요구가 증가하고 있다. 그에 따라 미술치료 분야는 다양한 응용과 확장을 시도하고 있으며 기존의 미술관 또한 시대적 변화에 따라 사회적 역할을 보다 확대하고 폭넓은 공익을 주고자 노력하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 미술관에서 이루어지는 미술치료와 관련한 해외의 프로그 램 사례와 문헌들을 분석해 보았다. 미술관 미술치료의 주요 근거이론으로는 사회적 구성주의, 현상학적 접근, 그리고 미술관이라는 장소가 갖는 치유적 특성이다. 대부분의 프로그램들은 미술품들을 접하고, 소재로 삼아 이야기 및 상호작용을 한 뒤, 작품 창작 및 전시를 하는 순서로 구성되어 있다. 해외의 미술관 미술치료 분야 는 다양한 협업들을 통해서 서로의 활동영역을 확장하는 시너지 효과를 보이고 있으며 앞으로 이러한 경향은 더욱 활발해 질 전망이다. 성공적인 미술치료와 미술관의 협업을 위해서는 서로간의 충분한 소통과 계획, 미술 치료사의 미술관과 미술제반에 대한 지식과 역량의 강화, 미술관의 미술치료에 대한 깊은 이해와 함께 두 분야 를 가로 지르는 이론적 근거에 기초한 창의적 프로그램 개발이 선행되어야 할 것이다. 이 논문이 아직은 미비 한 한국의 미술관 미술치료 분야에 일조를 하고 현 미술치료 영역의 확장과 여타 영역과의 유연한 융합에도 참고가 되었으면 한다.

영문 초록

Recently, the social interest and demand for art therapy as an alternative psychotherapy is increasing. Museums are also expanding the social role and striving to give benefit to a variety of people in the wider community. Accordingly, there is increased interest in collaboration with museums to create a new field, museum art therapy. In this study, the researcher examined leading experimental practices and articles of museum art therapy in foreign countries. Most of the programs include as follows: contacting artifacts, making stories to interact from them, and creating artworks and exhibitions. The primary concepts related to museum art therapy are social constructivism, phenomenology, and unique qualities of the museum as healing places. Art therapy and museums continue to seek synergistic collaboration through a variety of activities to expand each other’s area. This trend is expected to become more active in the near future. For successful collaboration between art therapy and museums, four things are needed: good communication and planning between the art therapy and the museums, rich knowledge and skills of art and art museums for art therapists, deep understanding of art therapy for the art museums, and full agreement on a common rationale for the two areas. This study is intended to provide useful information and future direction for museum art therapy research in South Korea and expansion of art therapists’role.
