평생교육자의 퍼실리테이션 역량과 성인학습자의 비판적 사고성향 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 평생교육자의 퍼실리테이션 역량(진행영역, 교수영역)과 성인학습자의 비판적 사고성향 관계를 실증적으로 탐색하였다. 연구를 위해 서울특별시, 경기도 소재 대학 부설 평생교육원 3곳과 P시 평생교육원 등 4곳에서 평생교육프로그램에 참여하는 성인학습자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 350부를 배포하고 337부(96.3%)를 회수하여 불성실한 응답지 8부를 제외한 유효설문지 329부(94%)를 요인분석, 기술통계 분석, 상관 분석 그리고 다중회귀분석을 통해 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 퍼실리테이션 역량이 비판적 사고성향에 정적 상관관계로 나타났다. 특히 퍼실리테이션 하위변인인 학습참여조성, 학습자 의견통합, 창의적 사고촉진 그리고 효과적인 커뮤니케이션은 비판적 사고성향에 정적 상관관계를 보였 다. 둘째, 퍼실리테이션 진행 영역 역량에서 학습참여 조성과 교수 영역 역량에서 창의적 사고 촉진이 학습자의 비판적 사 고성향 향상에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이런 연구결과를 통해 교수자가 성인학습자의 비판적 사고성향 향상을 위 해서는 그들의 참여와 창의적 사고를 촉진시킬 수 있는 실질적인 역량강화 훈련프로그램의 필요성을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study empirically investigated the relationships between facilitation competencies of lifelong educators and critical thinking dispositions of adult learners. A survey was conducted of 350 adult learners enrolled in four lifelong education institutes located in Seoul Metropolitan and Kyeonggi Province. The results of 329 valid questionnaires(94%) were analyzed using factor analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Eight cases of unfaithful respondents were not analyzed. The empirical findings of this study are as follows. First, there is a positive correlation between the facilitation competencies of lifelong educators and the critical thinking dispositions of adult learners. Especially, the sub-facilitation variables such as learning participation encouragement, creative thinking promotion, pursuit of validation and accuracy, and effective communication all showed a positive correlation. Regression analysis showed that learning participation encouragement in the progress area, and creative thinking promotion in the teaching area, which is a sub-factor of the facilitation competencies, influenced the learner s critical thinking. These results suggest that lifelong educators need intimate plans for practical program development and learning design for enhancing facilitation competencies of lifelong educators. In other words, a lifelong educator needs a design that is considered to be effective in promoting learning participation encouragement considering intimacy formed in the course of understanding the learner. It is also necessary to design a training program for enhancing the practical capacity of the educator to promote learner s critical thinking.
