다면적 학습무동기의 구인타당화 연구

국문 초록

학습동기는 학습자가 자신의 능력과 노력, 학습과제의 가치와 흥미에 대해 가지는 믿음이라는 관점으로 이해될 수 있다. 본 연구는 바로 이러한 원천을 바탕으로, 능력결손 신념, 노력결손 신념, 학업가치 결여 및 학업흥미 결여의 다차원 구조로 정의된 학습무동기를 구인타당화와 공인타당화의 관점에서 검증하는 것을 목표로 한다. 각 하위요인별로 6개씩 24항목의 학업무동기척도를 개발하여, 이를 요인구조의 확인과 다른 학습동기 관련 요인들에 대한 공인타당성의 확인에 사용하였다. 먼저 구인타당화를 위해 학부 5강좌 수강생 171명(연구 1)의 데이터를 탐색적 요인분석한 결과, 설명하기 어려운 7항목의 삭제 후, 능력결손 신념과 노력결손 신념 및 학업흥미가치 결여로 명명될 수 있는 3요인 구조를 얻었다. 17문항의 학습무동기 척도를 별도로 표집된 학부6강좌 학생 188명(연구 2)에게 실시한 결과에 대한 후속 확인요인분석은 이 세 요인구조를 확인하였다. 또한 연구 1의 데이터를 상관분석한 결과, 학업무동기 변인들은 자기결정이론 상 자기결정성이 높은 동기요인과는 상당한 부적인 관계를 가지면서 자기결정성이 낮은 동기요인들에 대해서는 유의한 정적 관계를 가지고 있었다. 공인타당성검증을 위해 연구 2의 자료에 대한 상관관계 분석 결과, 학습무동기 변인들은 자아개념, 자기효능감, 교과흥미 및 능력과 노력의 자기귀인 등 내적 통제에 대한 지각을 포함하는 학습동기 관련 변수들에는 강한 부적관계를 보인 반면, 학습된 무력감 및 타인과 운의 귀인 등 외적통제 인식을 반영하는 변인들에 대해서는 상당한 정적 관련성을 보였다. 또한 세 가지 학습무동기 변수 각각은 준거변인들 내의 각 하위요인과 차별적인 상관관계를 보이고 있었다. 이러한 결과는 한국 대학생들의 학습무동기가 자신의 능력과 노력의 결손에 대한 신념 그리고 학업에 대한 의미부여의 결여로 이해될 수 있음을 시사한다. 이러한 학업무동기의 다면성은 만성적인 학업실패 학생들의 학업 및 진로 적응을 위해 보다 구체적으로 개입할 수 있는 교육적 시사점을 가진다.

영문 초록

Based on the definition of academic amotivation as comprising four lacks of belief on ability, belief on effort, academic values and interests in learning tasks, this study aims at performing concurrent construct validation of academic amotivation. A Korean version of academic amotivation scale with 24 items for 4 subscales has been developed and administered to undergraduates, along with other various academic motivation variable scales. Exploratory factor analysis of data from 171 students of 5 classes (study 1) produced a 3 factor structure comprising lack of belief on ability, lack of belief on effort, and lack of academic values and interests, after deletion of 7 items difficult to explain. Subsequent confirmatory factor analysis of responses made by 188 students of another 6 classes (study 2) to the reduced version of the academic amotivation scale confirmed the three factor structure. Correlation analysis of the data from study 1 showed the 3 academic amotivation variables have significant positive relations to less self-autonomous variables of self-determination motivation while having substantial negative relations to more self-autonomous variables. Correlation analyses of data from study 2 showed strong negative relations of academic amotivation variables to self-concept, self-efficacy, interests in school subjects, and self-attributions of ability and effort, as well as their substantial positive relations to learned helpless, and self-attributions of others and luck. Additionally each of the three academic amotivation variables have differential correlations to each subfactor of the criterion motivation related variables. These results strongly suggest that Korean college students’ academic amotivation comes from lack of belief on ability, lack of belief on effort, and lack of academic values and interests. And this multidimensional academic amotivation has significant potential for optimal treatment of chronic underachievers’motivation.
