국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 음악적 문해력(文解力, musical literacy) 신장을 위한 수업 설계 방안을 탐색하는 것에 있다. ‘음악을 읽고 쓸 수 있는 능력과 음악 개념에 대한 인지적 이해력’을 의미하는 음악적 문해력은 독립적으로 음악을 배우고 향유하기 위해 필요한 기본능력으로 일반학교 음악수업을 통해 체계적으로 지도되어야 한다. 그러나 현재 학교현장에서는 음악적 활동의 비중이 높아지는 가운데, 음악적 문해력에 대한 관심이 약화되는 경향이 있다. 이는 체계적 학습과 즐거운 경험을 분리시켜 사고하는 경향에서 비롯된다고 여겨진다. 이와 같은 문제의 해결을 위해서는 음악적 개념·상징기호를 제시(Presentation)하기 전후(前後)에 충분한 준비(Preparation)와 연습(Practice) 활동이 이루어져야함을 강조하는 코다이 교수 과정(instructional process)이 시사하는 바가 크다. 이에 본 연구에서는 음악적 문해력의 개념과 교육적 의의를 재고(再考)하고, 코다이 교수 과정과 이에 기초한 수업설계를 살펴 본 후, 이를 바탕으로 초등학교 3학년의 음악적 문해력 신장을 위한 수업 설계 방안을 탐색하였다.

영문 초록

Musical literacy can be defined as the ability to read and write music as well as comprehend the concepts of music. It is the foundation of learning and enjoying music independently and more deeply throughout a student’s life. As such, it should be taught during public school. It is especially important to teach musical literacy systematically in the stage of elementary school. Unfortunately, it tends to be neglected in current music classes, while more entertaining musical activities are emphasized. This problem is partially caused by the notion that learning musical concepts is an unnecessary detail when compared with the enjoyment of singing and playing. Kodály’s instructional process contains remarkably relevant proposals for this situation. The process consists of three stages: preparation, presentation, and practice. For students to grasp these, teachers must intentionally integrate complexities of structure and style into their lesson planning. The process underscores the essential connection among the three stages, and provides a method for presenting deeper ideas to students without detracting from their enjoyment of music class. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the instructional design plan for developing musical literacy on the basis of Kodály’s instructional process, and exemplify the instructional design focusing on the 3rd grade in elementary school.
