영문 초록

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between antidepressive effect of the combined therapy of thyroid hormone and antidepressants, and serum level of tricyclic antidepressant and thyroid hormone in depressed patients. The subjects of this study were 12 depressed out-patients of the Guro hosptial，Korea University from May, 1989 to August, 1989. The thyroid function of all subjects were within normal range before the oral administration of T 4 . The serum levels of T4 , TSH after combined therapy of T4 and antidepressant were significantly changed within euthyroid(T4 • p〈0.05, TSH * p〈0.005). But there was no significant change of T ^uptake after combined therapy of T4 and antidepressants. 2) There was significant change of depression scores by Beck’s depression inventory scale (B D I; p<0.005). but no significant change of depression scores by Hamilton’s rating scale for depression. 3) This study did not show the antidepressive effect of T4 and any correlation between antidepressive effect and serum level of T4 . 4) The serum levels of tricyclic antidepressants was not significantly changed after combined therapy of T4 and antidepressants.
