명사의 의미망 분석을 통한 건청아동과 청각장애아동의 개념어휘 및 의미어휘 발달 비교

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 청각장애아동의 효율적인 언어지도를 위한 방안을 탐색하기 위하여 표적어휘에 대한 의미망 분석을 통하여 개념어휘와 의미어휘의 발달을 비교하고자 하였다. 만 5세의 유치원 아동 20명과 만 6세와 7세의 초등학교 아동 각 20명, 그리고 특수학교의 유치부와 초등부 과정에 재학 중인 만 5, 6, 7세의 청각장애아동 각각 20명을 대상으로 14개의 보통명사를 제시하여 의미망 분석을 실시하였다. 건청아동은 표적어휘에 대한 개념어휘와 의미어휘가 연속적으로 발달하여 어휘발달에 대한 개념어휘와 의미어휘 지도를 위한 수준별 계획의 구분이 필요하지 않으나, 청각장애아동의 경우에는 개념어휘에 비해 의미어휘의 발달이 현저하게 지체된 발달을 보였다. 따라서 청각장애아동의 의미어휘 발달을 촉진할 수 있는 지도방안의 차별성이 요구됨을 본 연구에서는 시사하였다.

영문 초록

Language itself may be the most important factor to educate for deaf children in school and home environments. Therefore language development and language skills have become increasingly recognized as critical concerns in the education of deaf children. Most linguists agree on the sequence of language development during the first five years of life. Also, most deaf children who are attending the elementary levels indicated developmental direction and speed, even though the children delay in developmental speed with the ordinary children. The purpose of this study was to compare with the development on concept and meaning vocabulary in schema with hearing and deaf children. Sixty hearing children and sixty deaf children were participate to compare the development of the concept and meaning vocabulary. Fourteen vocabularies selected from Korean Standard Receptive Vocabulary Test. The results were that (a) the hearing children indicated the significant differences with age development in concept and meaning vocabularies; (b) the deaf children were also significant differences in concept vocabularies in age development, however, no significant differences in meaning vocabularies; and (c) the two groups showed that significant differences in the development of meaning vocabularies, not concept vocabularies. Therefore this study concluded that the importance of teaching meaning vocabularies is emphasized in language instruction for deaf children.
