지체 장애인의 관광위험지각이 태도, 방문 의도에 미치는 영향 - 제주도 잠재 여행자를 중심으로

국문 초록

장애인 관광시장은 전 세계 인구의 약 15%에 해당하는 약 10억 명의 규모를 형성하고 있으며, 장애인 수는 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 같은 맥락으로 국내 장애인 관광시장도 장애인 수 증가, 장애인 가구의 경상소득 증가 등으로 인해 성장하고 있다. 하지만 장애인 관광에 관한 대부분의 연구는 관광시설 및 환경, 접근성, 관광정책과 같이 장애인을 정책 대상이나 복지 대상으로 바라보고 있다. 이에, 이 연구의 목적은 지체 장애인을 관광 활동의 주체적인 관점에서 접근하여 지체장애인 잠재 여행자의 제주도 여행에 대한 관광위험지각이 태도와 방문 의도에 미치는 영향을 파악하고, 지체 장애인 잠재 여행자의 의사결정에 영향을 미치는 위험 요인을 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 최근 1년 이내에 제주도 여행 계획이 있거나 여행 의향이 있는 20대 이상의 지체 장애인을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행했으며 총 298개의 유효 응답을 실증분석에 사용하였다. 연구 분석 결과, 지체 장애인의 관광위험지각(기능적, 신체적, 재정적, 사회·심리적, 시간적) 요인 중사회·심리적 위험지각과 시간적 위험지각이 태도에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 지체 장애인 관광자의 시간적 위험지각이 방문 의도에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 지체 장애인 잠재 여행자의 태도와 방문 의도 간에 긍정적인 영향 관계를 확인하였다. 따라서 이 연구는 지체 장애인을 관광활동의 주체적 관점에서 이해하고, 관광 위험지각이 지체 장애인 잠재 여행자의 태도와 방문 의도에 미치는 영향을 밝힘으로써 지체 장애인 잠재 여행자가 직면하는 고유한 위험 요소를 확인했다. 이를 통해 지체 장애인의 안전하고 포괄적인 관광 경험을 제공하기 위한 기반마련과 지체 장애인의 관광의사결정 과정을 깊이 이해하는 데 기여하는 학술적, 실무적 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The disabled tourism market comprises approximately 1 billion people or about 15% of the world's population. Similarly, the domestic disabled tourism market in Korea is growing due to the increases in the number of disabled individuals and their household disposable incomes. However, most previous research views disabled individuals as policy or welfare targets--focusing limitedly on tourism facilities and environments, accessibility, and tourism policies--rather than active tourism participants. To address this research gap, this study examines how perceived tourism risks impact the attitudes and visit intentions of potential physically disabled tourists to Jeju Island. A survey was conducted targeting physically disabled individuals aged 20 and above who had plans or intentions to visit Jeju within the past year, and 298 valid responses were used for empirical analysis. The findings indicate that among various tourism risk perceptions (functional, physical, financial, social-psychological, and temporal), social-psychological and temporal risks negatively affect attitudes. Additionally, temporal risk directly reduces visit intention, while attitude positively influences visit intention. By identifying the unique tourism risk perceptions faced by physically disabled individuals, this study provides academic and practical insights for creating safer and more inclusive tourism experiences. The results contribute to a deeper understanding of the decision-making process in tourism for people with disabilities, supporting efforts to enhance tourism accessibility and participation.
