국문 초록

이 논문은 예이츠와 조이스는 서로의 차이점으로 인해 자신들의 작품과원리를 만들어낸다고 주장한다. 그들의 차이점들은 두 작가들에 의해 전략적으로 재조정되고 재연됨으로써 문학적 자아를 창출하고 무의미하거나 정치적으로 제한적이지않는 전통을 창안해 낸다. 그러나 자신들의 미학적, 작가적 안목의 차이를 강조하려는노력에도 불구하고, 그들은 서로를 참조하고, 또 서로가 버릴 것을 여겨지는 견해를취하고 있다.

영문 초록

This essay argues that Yeats and Joyce create their works and artistic principles from their disagreements with each other. Their differences are strategically recast and replayed by both writers to create a sense of literary identity and invent a tradition which was neither deadening nor politically restraining. But despite their efforts to highlight the differences in their aesthetics and views of the artist, they recurrently reference each and incorporate the vision they supposedly reject.
