국문 초록

2015년 시인 윤동주의 서거 70주년을 기념하여 시작된 윤동주 창작음악제가 2024년 제10회를 맞이하였다. 윤동주 창작음악제는 ‘윤동주 문학제’라는 축제 프로그램의 일환이다. 본 음악제는 윤동주 시인의 정신을 기리고 계승하고자 시인의 시를 가사로 활용하여 음악을 창작하고 경연하는 주제가 있는 창작음악제이다. 본 연구의 목적은 문학의 한 장르인시를 음악으로 재해석한다는 관점에서 윤동주 창작음악제가 기록으로서 어떠한 기능을 수행하는지 고찰하는 것이다. 연구방법으로는 종로문화재단으로부터 제공받은 지원서 내용의 일부를 문헌자료로 활용하여 범주화 및 분석을 통하여 의미를 도출하였다. 첫째, 창작의 소재로 최다 빈도를 보인 <새로운 길>을 선택한 지원자들의 창작 의도 내용을 분석하였다. 둘째, 창작곡 장르를 체계화하고 지원서 내용의 재구성을 제안하였다. 셋째, ‘창작 의도’와 ‘시 선정 이유’ 내용을 분석하여 윤동주 창작음악제의 가치와 의미를 도출하였다. 또한 10년간의 지원자 수 추이를 분석하고 변화와 발전을 위한 제언을 하였다. 지난 10년을 회고하고 향후 발전 방향과 보완점을 검토하여 윤동주 시인의 업적과 정신을 음악으로 기록하고 계승하는 일을 이어가야 할 것이다. 시 중심의 문학계 활동 외에도 문화예술계에서 이와 같은 의미 있는 행보가 새롭게 일어나고 지속되기를 바라며, 문학을 기록하는 음악으로서 기능한 윤동주 창작음악제가 그 선두에 자리하기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The Yoon Dong-ju Creative Music Festival, first launched in 2015 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of poet Yoon Dong-ju's passing, celebrates its 10th edition in 2024. As part of the broader “Yoon Dong-ju Literary Festival,” this music festival is a theme-based creative competition that honors and preserves the spirit of Yoon Dong-ju by transforming his poetry into musical compositions. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of the Yoon Dong-ju Creative Music Festival as a cultural record, focusing on its reinterpretation of poetry—a literary genre—through music. The research utilized application materials provided by the Jongno Cultural Foundation as documentary data, employing methods such as categorization, and analysis to derive meaning. First, it analyzed the creative intentions of participants who selected “New Path,” the most frequently chosen poem for composition. Second, it categorized the genres of original compositions and proposed a restructuring of application content. Third, it examined participants' “creative intentions” and “reasons for poem selection” to highlight the festival's value and significance. Additionally, trends in participant numbers over the past decade were analyzed, and suggestions for improvement and future development were presented. Reflecting on the festival's first decade provides an opportunity to assess its achievements, refine its direction, and ensure that Yoon Dong-ju's legacy continues to be documented and celebrated through music. Beyond literature-focused activities, this study anticipates that similar initiatives will emerge and thrive in cultural and artistic domains, with the Yoon Dong-ju Creative Music Festival leading the way as a unique convergence of music and literary heritage.
