한국 대학생 영어학습자의 외국어 불안감 및 학습전략에 대한 수준별 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 다양한 영어 능력 수준을 가진 EFL 학습자들 사이에서 외국어 불안감과 언어 학습전략 간의 관계를 분석하였다. 총 195명의 참가자를 대상으로 Google 설문조사를 통해 외국어 불안감 수준과 학습전략 사용 간의 상관관계를 조사하고, 심층 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 연구 결과, 상위 수준의 학습자들은 중간 정도의 외국어 불안감을 나타냈으며, 메타인지 전략이 이 수준에서 불안감을 관리하는 데 가장 효과적인 것으로 확인되었다. 중위 수준의 학습자들은 인지 전략이 외국어 불안감을 감소시키는 데 크게 도움이 되는 것으로 나타났다. 하위 수준의 학습자들은 특히 시험과 의사소통에 대한 높은 불안감을 보였으나, 사회적 전략과 메타인지 전략이 이 불안감을 완화하는 데 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 외국어 불안감을 완화하기 위한 목표 학습전략의 중요성을 강조하며, 교육자들이 학습자의 능력 수준에 따른 정의적 여 전략을 적용하여 교육 방법이나 콘텐츠를 개발하는 데 중요한 통찰을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the relationship between foreign language anxiety and language learning strategies among EFL learners at different English proficiency levels. The study involved 195 participants and examined the correlation between their levels of foreign language anxiety and their use of learning strategies through a Google survey, followed by in-depth interviews. The findings revealed that learners at high proficiency levels exhibited moderate language anxiety, and metacognitive strategy was found to be the most effective in managing anxiety at this level. At the intermediate level, cognitive strategy significantly helped reduce foreign language anxiety. Learners at low proficiency levels displayed higher anxiety, particularly regarding test and communication, but social and metacognitive strategies were effective in alleviating this anxiety. These results underscored the critical role of targeted learning strategies in mitigating foreign language anxiety, offering valuable insights for educators in developing instructional methods or educational content that apply affective filter strategies according to proficiency levels to enhance language acquisition.
