후식민주의 퀴어 신약해석에 대한 평가 : Jeremy Punt를 중심으로

국문 초록

최근 퀴어신학 개론서에 이어, 퀴어 성경 주석이 한글로 번역 출판되었다. 혹자는 이 주석이 전통적인 역사비평이 놓친 본문의 의미를찾아낸 기여가 있다고 평가한다. 그리고 국내에서 성경의 퀴어해석은 여성 구약학자들이 주도 중이다. 하지만 최근 국내에서 개혁주의진영에서 퀴어신학에 대한 조직신학 및 기독교윤리학적 비평이 제기되었다. 국외의 개혁주의 진영에서 퀴어해석과 관련된 신약학 연구는 남아공 화란개혁교회(DRC) 소속 스텔렌보쉬대학교의 예레미 푼트(Jeremy Punt, b. 1962)가 약 20년 동안 주도하고 있다고 볼 수있다. 그는 퀴어 신약해석에 후식민주의(postcolonial) 해석을 접목한다. 따라서 푼트를 적절히 비평한다면, 하나님의 포도원을 거니는 퀴어해석과 후식민주의해석이라는 두 마리 여우의 정체를 밝혀 적절히대응할 수 있다. 이 글의 목적은 푼트의 소논문들에 나타난 후식민주의 퀴어(postcolonial queer)해석을 평가하는 것이다. 이를 위해, 첫째, 푼트의 후식민주의 퀴어 신약해석을 소개한다. 둘째, 푼트의 후식민주의 퀴어해석의 특징과 경향을 분석하기 위해 The Queer Bible Commentary와 The Women’s Bible Commentary 그리고 The IVP Women’s Bible Commentary의 해당 신약주석과 비평적으로 비교한다. 마지막으로, 푼트의 후식민주의 퀴어 해석에 나타난 전제, 방법, 그리고 특징을 비평한다.

영문 초록

Recently following the Introduction to Queer Theology, the Queer Bible Commentary was translated and published in Korean. It is evaluated that the commentary has contributed to discovering the meaning of the text that traditional historical criticism has missed. The Queer Bible Commentary’s New Testament is not led by many female scholars. However, currently in Reformed circle, systematic and Christian ethical criticism on the queer theology has been raised. In the Reformed circle abroad of the New Testament studies, queer interpretation has been conducted at Stellenbosch University affiliated with the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) in South Africa by Jeremy Punt (b. 1962) for about 20 years. He applies a postcolonial interpretation to the interpretation of the queer New Testament. Therefore, if a critique on Punt appropriately is done, both revealing the identities of the two foxes, the queer interpretation and the postcolonial interpretation, walking in God’s vineyard and responding to them are possible appropriately. The purpose of this article is to evaluate Punt’s postcolonial queer interpretation. For this end, firstly, Punt’s post-colonial queer interpretations are introduced. Secondly, to analyze the characteristics and trends of Punt’s post-colonial queer interpretation, a critical comparison of Punt with the Queer Bible Commentary, the Women’s Bible Commentary, and the IVP Women’s Bible Commentary are implemented. And lastly, the premise, method, and characteristics in Punt’s postcolonial queer interpretation are critically evaluated.
