본 논문은 19세기 이후 오랫동안 논쟁거리였던 “하나님의 나라가가까이 와 있다”(hg; giken h' basileia, tou/ qeou/, 막 1:15)에 관한 최근해석들을 재고하며 그 의미를 연구한다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해우리는 먼저 마가복음 1:14-15에 나타난 하나님의 나라와 그에 대한회개(또는 믿음)의 반응을 신약과 구약의 맥락에 기초하여 연구하고, 이어서 마가복음 1:1-13이 1:14-15에 나타난 하나님의 나라와 회개(또는 믿음) 등 주제들을 일관되게 전개하고 있음을 관찰하고 1:15 (“하나님의 나라가 가까이 와 있다”)의 의미를 밝히 드러낼 것이다. 마가복음에 나타난 하나님의 나라와 회개(또는 믿음)에 관한 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 신약은 하나님의 나라가 고난과 부활을 통해 결정적으로 시작했음을 분명히 한다. 둘째, 마가복음을 요약하며 주제를 명시하는 1:14-15는 종말론적 하나님 나라의 시작을 선포하기 위해 예수님의 오심과 하나님의 나라를 밀접하게 연결하고 있다. 셋째, “하나님의 나라가 가까이 와 있다”(ἤγγικεν h' basilei,a tou/ qeou/, 막 1:15)는 선포는 그 나라의 왕인 예수 그리스도가 가까이와 있어 하나님의 나라를 시작하고 있다는 것을 보여줄 뿐만 아니라하나님의 나라가 결정적으로 임하는 고난과 부활을 전망한다(막9:1-10). 넷째, 1:1의 “복음의 시작”이 마가복음 전체의 제목이라면, 그것을 구체화하는 1:14-15는 마가복음에 나타난 예수님의 모든 사역을 하나님의 나라 복음의 시작으로 보게 한다. 왜냐하면, 프리에네의 비문이 1세기 당시의 화두인 “복음(들)의 시작”을 황제의 생일로부터 시작하는 황제의 모든 사역을 포괄하고 있기 때문이다. 다섯째, 하나님의 나라는 왕이신 예수 그리스도의 임재와 사역으로 시작하지만, 그 사역에 대한 회개와 믿음으로 반응하는 열매로 완성되어 간다. 회개의 세례를 전파하는 것(1:4)이 이사야 40:3의 성취로서 새출애굽인 하나님의 나라가 시작하는 모습을 보여준다. 여섯째, 예수님의 세례 사건(1:9-11)은 그가 하나님 나라를 시작하는 하나님의 아들로 하나님으로부터 인증받는 등극식이고 예수님의 시험 사건(1:12-13)은 하나님의 나라가 시작되는 영적 전투장이고 승전가다.

영문 초록

This paper examines recent interpretations of the phrase “the kingdom of God is near” (Mark 1:15), which has been a contentious issue since the 19th century. To address this issue, the author first studies the kingdom of God and the response of repentance(or faith) in Mark 1:14-15 based on the contexts of the Old and New Testaments, and then observes that Mark 1:1-13 consistently develops themes such as the kingdom of God and repentance(or faith), leading to a clear interpretation of the meaning of Mark 1:15. The results of the study on the kingdom of God and repentance(or faith) in Mark's Gospel are as follows. First, the New Testament clearly states that the kingdom of God began decisively through suffering and resurrection. Second, Mark 1:14-15, which summarizes and announces the beginning of the eschatological kingdom of God, closely connects the coming of Jesus and the kingdom of God. Third, “the kingdom of God is near” (Mark 1:15) not only shows that the proclamation of the kingdom's coming is fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ, but also anticipates the decisive coming of the kingdom through suffering and resurrection (Mark 9:1-10). Fourth, if “the beginning of the gospel” in Mark 1:1 is the title of the entire Gospel of Mark, then Mark 1:14-15 specifies all of Jesus' ministry as the beginning of the gospel of the kingdom. Fifth, although the kingdom of God begins with the reign and ministry of Jesus Christ, it is completed through the response of repentance and faith to his ministry. Sixth, Jesus' baptism (1:9-11) is a coronation in which he is certified as the Son of God starting the kingdom of God, and his temptation (1:12-13) is a spiritual battlefield where the kingdom of God begins.
