국문 초록

신경과학과 생명공학의 발전은 인간의 본성에 대한 질문을 던진다. 본 연구는 신경과학과 윤리학, 철학, 문헌학, 종교학 등의 간학문적 대화가 일어날 수 있는 지점으로서 인간의 몸에 대한 인문학적 분석을 시도하고자 한다. 특히 본 연구는 인간의 ‘몸’(σῶμα)과 ‘살’(σαρξ), ‘영’(πνεῦμα)과‘혼’(ψυχή)을 둘러싼 인식의 계보를 정리하며, 신체성과 관계성을 모두 담지한 개념으로서 인간의 ‘몸’(σῶμα)에 대해 고찰할 것이다. 첫 단계로 본 연구는 인간을 영혼과 ‘몸’(σῶμα)으로 분리해 바라본 플라톤과 르네 데카르트의 이원론을 살펴볼 것이다. 그다음 본 연구는 루돌프 불트만의 주체-객체로서의 인간 이해와 에른스트 케제만의 통전적 인간 이해를 고찰하며, 바울로부터 ‘몸’(σῶμα)의 관계성이 발견됨을 주목할 것이다. 이어 부활한 몸인 ‘신령한 몸’의 신체성을 지적한 로버트 건드리와 게르하르트 타이센의 논지를 검토한 후, 기억을 기반으로 확장되는 몸을 제안한 벨커의 통전적 이해를 참고하여 바울의 ‘신령한 몸’에 대한 주장이 포스트휴먼 시대의 인간 이해에 기여할 수 있는 지점을 고찰할 것이다.

영문 초록

The developments in biotechnology and neuroscience prompt questions about the nature of humanity. To foster a starting point of interdisciplinary discourse between neuroscience and ethics, philosophy, and religion, this study surveys how philosophical and theological research have interpreted human σῶμα(soma). As a response to the transhuman discourses that may regard the human body as an individual, replaceable, and separate part of a machine, this study remarks on the significance of the relationships that construct the human body. Denoting the dualistic problem of the Platonic and Cartesian division of human flesh(σῶμα) and spirit, this study examines the pros and cons of Bultmann’s and Käsemann’s holistic view that highlights relation in human σῶμα, as well as of Theissen’s and Gundry’s interpretation that emphasizes the physicality of the term. By presenting human σῶμα as the concept that encompasses both physicality and relation, this study continues to survey Michael Welker’s proposal, which regards σῶμα as an extensible body by human memory, to contemplate how the Pauline term ‘spiritual body’ may contribute to developing posthuman discourses between science and religion.
