메타버스 시대, 유아의 다중정체성에 대한 가능성 고찰

국문 초록

대사회는 디지털 전환사회라고 일컬어지며 유아교육에서도 메타버스를 활용한 교육과 연구가 시도되고 있는 상황이다. 메타버스에서는 아바타를 활용하게 됨에 따라 실존하는 자아와 아바타라는 여러 자아가 현상되며 다중정체성이 생성될 지점이 생긴다. 이에 본 연구에서는 일원론적 관점에서 만물이 얽히고 이어짐을 전제하며 지속하고 변용하는 존재에 대해 시사하는 장자의 화(化) 개념을 통해 메타버스 기반, 다중정체성 시대를 향유하는 유아의 가능성을 탐색해보고자 하였다. 장자의 화(化) 개념으로 볼 때, 메타버스 시대는 온-오프라인 공간이 연결된 생활권으로 이해되며 유아는 이러한 환경적 장에서 실존하는 존재와 아바타를 넘나들며 살아가고 있음을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 또한 유아를 포함한 인간은 배치된 환경에 맞는 역할과 행동적 특성을 드러내며 이미 다중정체성을 지니고 있는 존재이다. 이로 볼 때, 아바타는 가상공간이라는 특수한 환경적 맥락에 맞게 현상된 또 다른 모습일 뿐, 실존하는 존재와 구별된 대상이 아님을 짚어보게 하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 시대의 흐름에 부합하는 다중정체성 개념을 유아가 향유할 수 있는 가능성을 살펴봄으로써 미래 유아교육의 방향에 대한 교육철학적 접근을 시도하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Recent society is called a digital transition society, and education and research using the metaverse are being attempted in early childhood education. In the metaverse, as avatars are used, multiple selves called real selves and avatars appear, creating a point where multiple identities are formed. Accordingly, this study seeks to explore the possibility of young children enjoying a metaverse-based, multiple-identity era through Chuang-tzu's concept of 'hwa(化)', which assumes that all things are intertwined and connected from a monistic perspective and suggests a continuous and transforming being. From Chuang-tzu's concept of hwa(化), the metaverse era is understood as a living space where online and offline spaces are connected, and it can be seen that young children live in this environmental field, moving between real beings and avatars. In addition, humans, including young children, are beings who already possess multiple identities, revealing roles and behavioral characteristics appropriate to the environment in which they are placed. In view of this, it is pointed out that an avatar is just another appearance developed to fit for the special environmental context of virtual space, and is not an object distinct from a real being. Therefore, this study is significant in that it attempts an educational philosophical approach to the direction of future early childhood education by examining the possibility of young children enjoying the concept of multiple identities in line with the trends of the times.
