｢알영 신화｣에 나타난 인물의 특질과 형상화 방안

국문 초록

알영(閼英,기원전 53년~4년)은 신라의 시조 혁거세 거서간의 비(妃)이다. 알영정(閼英井)가에 용(또는鶴龍)이 나타나 옆구리에서 여아(女兒)를 탄생시켰다. 이때 여아의 입술이 닭의 부리와 같았는데, 월성 북천(北川)에 데리고 가서 목욕을 시키니 그 부리가 빠졌다. 태어난 우물의 이름을 따서 여아의 이름을 알영이라고 하였다. 알영 신화는 알지(閼智)와 연관성을 두고 닭토템을 가진 토착 세력 김씨 부족을 표현한 것이라고도 한다. 알영은 용모와 인품이 뛰어나 혁거세를 보필하는 왕비가 되었는데, 나라 사람들이 이 두 사람을 이성(二聖)이라고 하였다. 알영신화에는 다층적인 상징을 내표하고 있다. 나름의 이야기가 존재하며 그 속에는 신이한 상징체계가 존재한다. 가장 기본적인 서사는 알영이 용에게서 태어난 후 자라면서 덕행과 용모가 뛰어나 시조비가 되었고, 행실이 어질고 안에서 보필을 잘하였다는 것이다. 알영은 혁거세가 신라를 두루 다닐 때 함께 있으면서 백성들에게 농사일과 누에 치는 방법을 알려 주었다. 알영이 지닌 주체성과 독립성을 기반으로 국가를 통치하고, 평온한 삶을 유지하는 기반이 되었다. 고대 사회에서 여성은 제도속에서 자유로운 표현을 하기 어려웠다. 이는 여성이 신체적 심리적, 정서적으로 좌절하게 하는 요인으로 작용했다. 그럼에도 불구하고 고대 신라의 여성인 알영은 여성이지만 남성과 동등한 리더의 역할과 능력을 나타내고, 새로운 도전의 면모를 보여준다. 알영은 평등의 실현, 적극적 삶의 의지, 공존의 삶을 모색을 통해 새로운 국가의 건설에 이바지하였다. 지상 세계의 인간들은 특별한 능력을 지닌 신계(神界) 출신의 왕이 필요했고, 신계 출신왕은 인간으로 성장하기 위해 삶의 경험을 충분히 쌓은 지혜로운 인간이 필수적이었는데, 이에 알영이 이러한 조건을 충분히 지니고 있다. 이는 자신의 역할에서 주를 이루고 성공을 꿈꾸는 지금의 여성들 모습과 크게 다르지 않다. 여성 인물인 알영은 신라 사회에서 평등을 실현하며, 삶에 대한 적극적 의지와 아울러 융합을 표현하며 그 속에 자신의 의지를 지닌 여성의 모습과 여성 중심이 되는 문화 현상의 단면을 분명하게 형상화하고 있다.

영문 초록

Al-yeong (閼英,BC53~4) was a the queen(妃) between the founder of Silla, the 閼英 Dynasty. A dragon (or a 鶴 dragon) appeared in Alyeongjeong (閼英井) and gave birth to a girl (女兒) on her side. At this time, the girl's lips were like a chicken's beak, but when I took her to Wolseong Bukcheon Stream for a bath, the beak fell out. The girl was named Alyoung after the well she was born in. It is also said that the Al-yeong myth expresses the Kim clan tribe, an indigenous force with chicken totems, in connection with the Al-ji (閼智). Al-young became a queen who supplemented the revolutionary era with her excellent appearance and personality, and the people of the country called the two king(二聖). The mythology Al-Young has a multi-layered symbol. There is a story of its own, and there is a divine symbolic system in it. The most basic narrative is that Al-young was born from a dragon and grew up to become a sijo monument due to her excellent virtue and appearance, and her actions were broken and she was good at supplementing inside. Al-young was with Hyukgeo when he traveled through Silla and taught the people how to farm and how to silkworm. Based on Al-young's subjectivity and independence, it became the basis for governing the country and maintaining a peaceful life. In ancient society, it was difficult for women to express freely in institutions. This acted as a factor that frustrated women physically, psychologically, and emotionally. Nevertheless, Alyoung, a woman from ancient Silla, is a woman, but she shows the role and ability of a leader equal to that of a man, and shows a new aspect of challenge. Alyoung contributed to the construction of a new country through the realization of equality, the active will to live, and the search for a life of coexistence. Humans from the the world of God (神界) with special abilities were needed in the world, and a wise human being with sufficient experience in life was essential for a king from the Shingye to grow into a human being, and Alyoung has these conditions. This is not much different from today's women who dominate in their roles and dream of success. Al-young, a female character, realizes equality in Silla society, expresses convergence along with an active will for life, and clearly embodies the appearance of a woman with her will and a cross-section of the cultural phenomenon centered on women.
