국문 초록

근대 국민국가는 종교적 우상을 해체한 계몽주의 이후 계몽주의가 생산한 ‘내셔널리즘’이라는 종교적 이데올로기의 상징물 위에 건축된 ‘상상의 공동체’이지만, 이 상상이 지금 여기의 현실적 이데올로기로 작용하기 때문에 ‘실재의 공동체’이다. 정교분리의 원칙 위에 국민국가가 설립되었지만, 국민국가를 지탱하는 정신은 여전히 중세 교권 사회의 종교 이데올로기와 같이 폭력적인 동일성의 포섭 논리로 작동하였기 때문에, 국가 기제는 차이의 인정이 아니라, 차별의 공식화와 낯섦의 배제 논리로만 운용된다. “무리를 선택한 사람들: 시민, 인민 그리고 무리”라는 이 연구는 근대 국민국가의 탄생과 더불어 발생한 경계 안의 존재와 경계 밖의 존재 사이의 차별에 주목하고자 하며, 이 차별로 인해 발생한 “몫 없는 자”의 자기 몫 찾기의 가능성이 어떻게 가능한지 타진해보고 한다. 이를 위해 국민국가의 주권적 폭력 현상을 다룬 칼 슈미트, 발터 벤야민과 현대 폭력 담론을 “II. 주권 권력은 폭력이다”에서 다룬다. 이어서 “III.‘무리-인민’의 실존적 존재양식”에서는 국가 주권의 포섭과 배제의 과정에서 필연적 산물로 발생하는 시민, 국민 그리고 난민, 수형인, 외국인, 이주민, 이주노동자와 같은 다양한 형태의‘무리-인민’, 즉 대중(masse)의 법적 정치적 및 사회 경제적 층위를 주목한다. 마지막으로 배제된 인민의 연대 이유와 가능성을 “IV. ‘우리-인민’의 정언명령”에서 가늠해볼 것이다.

영문 초록

The modern nation-state is an ‘imaginary community’built on a symbol of the religious ideology of ‘nationalism’ produced by the Enlightenment after the Enlightenment, which dismantled religious idols, but it is an ‘real community’ because this imagination acts as a realistic ideology here. Although a nation-state was established on the principle of separation of church and state, the spirit of supporting the nation-state still operated as a logic of inclusion of violent identity, such as the religious ideology of medieval denomination society, so the state mechanism operates only as a logic of formulation of discrimination and exclusion of unfamiliarity, not recognition of difference. The study, “ People who chose Masse: Citizens, the People, and Masse,” aims to pay attention to the discrimination between beings within and outside the boundaries that occurred with the birth of a modern nation-state, and examines how it is possible to find their share of the “non-share” caused by this discrimination. To this end, Carl Schmitt, Walter Benjamin, and modern violence discourse, which deal with the phenomenon of sovereign violence in the nation-state, are dealt with in “II. Sovereign power is violence.” “III. The Existential Presence of Masse-People” then focuses on the legal, political, and socio-economic layers of various forms of the “Masse-People”, such as citizens, people, refugees, prisoners, foreigners, migrants, and migrant workers, which are inevitable products in the process of inclusion and exclusion of national sovereignty. Finally, the reasons and possibilities of the excluded people's solidarity will be assessed in “IV. The Categorical Order of ‘We-People’”.
