국문 초록

목적: 이 연구는 다문화 배경 학습자의 사례를 분석함으로써 제3공간으로 기능하는 디지털 글쓰기 공간의 의의를 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법: 연구를 위해 제3공간 이론과 이의 국어교육적 활용 가능성을 탐색하고, 다문화 배경 학습자인 민수(가명)가 디지털 글쓰기 공간인 ‘자작자작’에서 작성한 텍스트, 면담 자료, 맵핑(mapping) 자료를 질적 사례 연구 방법을 통해 분석하여 다문화 배경 학습자에게 디지털 글쓰기 공간이 제3공간으로 기능하고 있는지 확인하고자 하였다. 결과: 다문화 배경 학습자는 디지털 글쓰기 공간을 소통과 즐거움의 공간으로 인식하고 있었으며 디지털 글쓰기 공간을 통해 자신의 글쓰기 표현 범위를 확장하고 디지털 글쓰기 공간 내에서 다른 학생들과 소통하는 과정에서 보다 적극적인 모습으로 자신의 정체성(identity)을 변화시키고 있었다. 결론: 디지털 글쓰기 공간은 결핍의 관점에서 인식되며 소외를 경험하는 학생들이 문식 실천(literacy practice)을 할 수 있게 하는 힘을 제공하는 제3공간의 역할을 수행할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aims to present the significance of a digital writing space functioning as a third space by analyzing the case of a multicultural learner. Methods: This study explored the third space theory and it’s potential applications in Korean education, and analyzed the texts, interview data, and mapping data created by Minsoo(a pseudonym), a learner from a multicultural background, in the digital writing space ‘Jajakjajak’ through a qualitative case study method to determine whether the digital writing space functions as a third space for learners from a multicultural background. Results: The multicultural learner perceived the digital writing space as a space of communication and enjoyment, and through the digital writing space, they expanded the scope of their writing expression and changed their identity by becoming more active in the process of communicating with other students in the digital writing space. Conclusion: Digital writing spaces are perceived through the lens of deprivation and can serve as an empowering third space for students who experience marginalization to engage in literacy practice.
