국문 초록

17세기 조선왕조는 ‘山林’이 도학적 기준을 내세워 왕권을 견제하는 ‘士林政治’가 이루어지던 시기이었다. 특히 현종 연간에는 기해예송 이후 山林 宋時烈 등의 山黨의 정치적 영향력이 앞선 효종 연간 보다 막강해지자, 같은 西人이지만 漢黨과 외척 그리고 여기에 동조하는 소수의 남인들이 왕권을 보위하는 세력으로 연합하였다. 게다가 현종은 효종의 獨子이었다. 왕실의 인사들이 이전 시기 보다 현저히 줄어드는 모습을 보이는 것도 바로 현종 연간이었다. 따라서 현종 자녀의 배우자들은 정치적으로 송시열을 따르는 인사들의 자녀이었지만, 간택된 인물의 가문은 당시 대비이었던 효종비 인선왕후나 왕비 명성왕후와의 밀접한 혼맥을 형성하고 있었다. 현종이나 명성왕후는 자녀들의 배우자 간택을 통해 왕실 세력의 확대를 도모, 이후 이들을 왕권을 수호하는 藩屛으로 양성하고자 했던 것으로 보인다

영문 초록

In the 17th century, the Joseon Dynasty was a period when “Sarim Politics” was implemented in which “Rustic literati[Sanlim]” check the royal authority by using academic standards. In particular, in the year of King Hyeon Jong, the political influence of the mountain party, such as Song Si yeol, after Gihae Ye-song, became stronger than that of the previous King Hyo jong, and the same Westerner, Handang, maternal relatives, and a few other men who sympathized with it united as a force to protect the royal authority. Moreover, King Hyeon jong was the only son of Hyojong. It was also during King Hyeon jong's year that the number of royal figures showed a significant decline from the previous period. Therefore, the spouses of King Hyeon jong's children were politically children of figures who followed Song Si-yeol, but the chosen figures had a relationship with Queen Hyojong's Inseon and Queen Myeongseong, compared to that of the time. It seems that King Hyeon jong and Queen Myeongseong sought to expand the royal power through their children's spouse's house, and later fostered them as a force to protect the royal authority
