A.I.(인공지능) 시대의 신인류(posthuman)는 그리스도교 인간학의 위기를 가져올 것인가?

국문 초록

21세기는 빅데이터와 인공지능(A.I.)의 결합으로 시작된 제4차 산업혁명의 시대이다. 이러한 산업 문명의 패러다임 전이는 컴퓨터 기술의 고도화와 고속인터넷의 발명, 그리고 빅데이터로 불리는 방대한 정보교환의 혁명이 만들어낸 초연결사회를 이끌고 있다. 오늘날 인공지능과 로봇 공학의 결합을 통하여 인간 삶의 질이 획기적으로 변화되고 있으며 이들 기술이 실생활에서 인간의 삶을 보조하는 역할을 넘어 인간 본성의 고유한 영역을 대체하는 놀라운 기술혁명으로 삶의 패러다임을 바꾸고 있다. 동시에 뇌과학의 발전은 인간의 지능을 모방한 인공지능 개발로 이어져 개량된 증강 인간(트랜스휴먼)이나 인간의 본성을 극복한 새로운 인간의 출현(포스트휴먼)을 가능하게 하고 있다. 이런 점은 하느님의 모상으로 여겨져온 전통적인 그리스도교 인간관에 적지 않은 도전이 되고 있다. 과연 뇌과학과 신경과학의 발전에 따른 인공지능(A.I.)의 기술개발이 인간의 고유한 지성과 능력을 넘어서게 된다면 인류는 새 인류를 어떻게 맞이해야 할 것인가? 여기에는 몇 가지 숙고해야 할 신학적 물음들이 있다. 첫째는 인공지능 기술이 과연 인간의 복잡한 지성 작용을 완전히 대체할 수 있느냐는 회의론이 있다. 둘째는, 발전된 뇌과학 연구의 성과들이 그리스도교가 전통적으로 지켜온 인간의 주체성, 곧 이성과 자의식과 자유의지를 지닌 정신적 존재인 인간의 행위를 뇌기능이나 뇌의 신경세포들의 작용으로 환원하려는 과학의 도전에 얼마나 설득력 있는 답변을 내놓을 수 있느냐는 점이다. 셋째는 하느님의 계시에 대한 인간의 신앙 행위에 기초를 둔 그리스도교 인간학의 담론들이 4차 산업혁명으로 대두된 인공지능 기술과 뇌과학의 연구 성과들을 어떻게 받아들이고 이들과 대화할 것인가이다. 이런 점에서 4차 산업혁명의 중심인 인공지능 기술이 미래에 가져올 현실들 가운데 그리스도교 인간 이해의 핵심적인 쟁점이 될 수 있는 분야, 곧 개량된 증강인간(트랜스휴머니즘)과 호모 사피엔스의 한계를 넘어서려는 포스트휴먼(posthuman)의 등장과 관련하여 신학이 전통적인 그리스도교 인간 이해에 대한 근원적 신뢰를 어떻게 정당하게 해명할 수 있는지를 인간 존재의 본성이 지향하는 ‘세계 개방성’과 ‘하느님의 모상성’ 안에서 해명하고자 한다.

영문 초록

21st century is the 4th Industrial Revolution period, which has been started from the union of Big Data and A.I. Such a paradigm shift of industrial civilization leads hyper-connected society made from the advancement of computer technology, invention of hi-speed internet and massive information exchange which is called Big Data. Today, through the combination of A.I. and robot engineering, the quality of human being’s life is changing innovatively. Such a technology exceeds its assistant role in human life, changes the life paradigm with astonishing technology revolution which replaces human’s intrinsic field. At the same time, the development of brain science continued to A.I. development, which imitated human intelligence, then enable to appear augmented human (trans-human), or new human (post-human) that overcome human nature. Such points challenge considerably to traditional Christian anthropology that was regarded as ‘Imago Dei’. Indeed, if brain science and A.I. technology development according to neuro science development exceed human’s intrinsic intelligence and ability, how human has to meet new human? Here are some theological questions to be considered. First, there is a skepticism that A.I. technology can replace completely human’s complicated intelligence action? Second, the outcomes of developed brain science study can give persuasive answers to scientific challenge, regarding the human identity that Christianity kept traditionally, which is spiritual human being’s acting with reason, self-consciousness and free will to revert to brain and brain nerve cell’s function? Third, How the Christian anthropology discourse which is based on human act of faith on God’s revelation adopts and communicates with A.I. technology and the outcomes of brain science study which come to the fore of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In this point, among the future realities to be brought from Artificial Intelligence techniques which is the center of the 4th industrial Revolution, related with the appearance of augmented human(trans-human) and post-human that tries to exceed the limitation of Homo Sapiens, which can be the fundamental issue of Christianity human understanding, this study tries to explain how theology explains properly the original trust regarding traditional Christianity understanding on human, within ‘World Openness’ and ‘Imago Dei’ which human being’s nature pursued.
