국문 초록

한국 천주교회는 1984년 200주년을 기념하면서 사목회의를 개최하였고, 12개 분야에 의안집을 그 결과물로 출판하였다. 이 논문에서는 7번째 의안이었던 ‘교리교육’에 대한 내용을 분석하였다. 이 의안집은 지침서의 구조를 지니지는 않았지만, 1980년대 예비자들이 급증하고, 주일학교가 활성화되던 시기에, 어떠한 교리교육을 실시해야 하는 지를 일목요연하게 설명하고 있다. 이 의안집에 나타나 특성을 요약한다면, 교리교육의 토착화에 대한 언급을 하면서, 한국인 정서에 맞는 교리교육의 방법을 찾고자 하였다. 그리고 단계적 입교 예식의 순서를 강조하면서 예비자가 급증하여 사목 현장에서 어렵다 하더라도, 적어도 1년간의 교리시간을 가지고 단계적 입교예식을 실시하기를 권장하였다. 그리고 가정에서의 교리교육을 강조하면서 교리교육의 1차적 책임이 부모에게 있고, 가정 안에서의 신앙 전수가 제일 중요한 교리교육임을 천명하였다. 이 의안집 제일 마지막 부분인 39항에서는 교리교육을 위한 제언을 하였는데, 다양한 제안을 통하여 앞으로 교리교육이 어떻게 이루어져야 하는 지에 대한 실천적인 방향을 제시하였다. 특히 통일 교리서 표준 교리서의 출판을 언급하였는데, 이는 보편 교회에서 1992년 『가톨릭 교회 교리서』 출판으로 지역 교회에 기준을 주었음을 상기해 볼 때, 미래를 향한 제안이었다. 그리고 ‘교리교육지침서’의 발간 또한 제안하였는데, 한국 천주교회에서는 2005년에 『교리교육지침서』를 발간하였고, 2021년에 개정판을 발간하여 교리교육의 방향을 제시하였다. 이처럼 이 의안집은 미래를 향한 교리교육의 실천적 방향을 제시하면서 1990년대 이후 한국 천주교회의 교리교육을 위한 밑거름이 되었다.

영문 초록

Korean Catholic Church held Synodus, commemorating the 200th Anniversary of Korean Catholic Church and published a Formal Topics, containing proposals of 12 fields, as an outcome. In this paper, I analyzed the content of the 7th proposal on ‘Catechesis’. Though this Instrumentum Laboris does not have the structure of Directory, it explains manifestly what kind of catechesis should be done, in the 1980's, when the number of catecumens rapidly increased and Sunday Schools were active. To sum up the feature of this Instrumentum Laboris, it sought the method of catechesis which is fit to the emotion to Korean, uttering about the indigenization of catechesis. Also it recommended to do the phased Rite of Christian Initiation with having at least one-year course of catechism, stressing on the order of the phased Rite of Christian Initiation, although conducting this rite is difficult to do at the place of pastoral work because of the rapid increase of catechumens. And it made clear that the direct responsibility on catechesis is upon parents, and that transmitting of the Faith in families is the most important catechesis, emphasizing the catechesis in families. In the last part of this Instrumentum Laboris, article 39, there is a proposal for catechesis, which presented the practical direction about how to do catechesis in the future through diverse opinions. Especially, it remarked the publication of United Standard Catechism. I think this was a proposition for future, when recall that Universal Church gave the criterion to local churches by publishing ‘Catechism of the Catholic Church’ in 1992. In addition it proposed to publish ‘Catechetical Directory’, therefore in 2005 Korean Catholic Church published ‘Catechetical Directory’ and in 2021 issued revised edition, which presents the direction of catechesis. Like this, this Book of Propositions became the foundation for catechesis of Korean Catholic Church after 1990’s by proposing the practical direction of catechesis for future.
