미디어 교육의 국제적 흐름과 국내 교육과정 비교 연구

국문 초록

[연구목적] 본 연구의 목적은 UNESCO, OECD 및 EU 등 국제기구에서 제시하고 있는 미디어 교육의 핵심 주제를 중심으로 디지털 미디어 환경 변화에 따른 미디어 교육의 국제적인 흐름을 살펴보고, 국내 교육과정과의 비교･분석을 통해 우리나라의 미디어 교육 발전 방안에 대한 시사점을 도출하는 것이다. [연구방법] 이를 위해 연구자들은 미디어를 둘러싼 기술 및 환경 변화를 반영하고 있는 것으로 평가되는 UNESCO의 MIL 교육 커리큘럼, OECD의 Education 2030 및 EU의 DigComp. 2.2 문서 분석을 통해 국제적 수준에서 주요하게 취급하는 미디어 교육 핵심 주제를 통합, 재분류하였다. 다음으로 도출된 미디어 교육 핵심 주제가 2022 개정 교육과정 성취기준 및 개별 교과별 성취기준에 어떻게 분산되어 있는지 살펴보았다. [연구결과 및 시사점] 해외 미디어 교육의 핵심 주제는 디지털 시민, 디지털 활용, 신기술 미디어, 미디어 재현, 정보판별과 확증편향, 미디어 산업과 소비자, 미디어 창작, 협력적 소통과 책임 있는 이용, 디지털 문제해결, 디지털 안전의 총 10개 주제로 도출되었다. 그리고 2022 개정 교육과정에 디지털 활용 능력과 신기술 미디어에 대한 이해, 디지털 문제해결 역량 관련 핵심 주제가 상당히 반영된 점을 확인하였다. 반면 디지털 환경에서 생산·공유·유통되는 콘텐츠를 분별하고 평가할 수 있는 역량에 대한 교육 내용은 상대적으로 부족한 것으로 나타나 향후 교육 현장에서 관련 교수·학습이 강화될 필요가 있음을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to examine the international trends in media education in the context of changes in the digital media environment, focusing on core topics outlined by international organizations such as UNESCO, OECD, and the EU. Through a comparison and analysis of domestic educational curricula, the study aims to derive insights for the development of media education in Korea. [Methods] To achieve this, researchers integrated and reclassified the core media education topics emphasized by UNESCO's MIL education curriculum, OECD's Education 2030, and the EU's DigComp. 2.2 through document analysis. Subsequently, the study explored how the core media education topics at the international level are distributed in the revised 2022 educational curriculum standards and individual subject achievement standards. [Results & Conclusion] The identified core topics of overseas media education include digital citizenship, digital utilization, new media technologies, media representation, information discrimination and confirmation bias, media industry and consumers, media creation, collaborative communication and responsible use, digital problem-solving, and digital safety—a total of 10 themes. It was confirmed that the 2022 revised curriculum notably reflects competencies related to digital utilization skills, understanding of new media technologies, and digital problem-solving. However, the study suggests a need for strengthening education on critical thinking and acceptance of content produced and shared in the digital environment, which appears relatively lacking in current educational content.
