국문 초록

한국 사회는 급격한 사회변동으로 인해 가족에 대한 의식과 형태가 변화하고 있다. 이와 같은 사회 변화의 흐름에 따라 미혼모의 비율이 증가해오고 있다. 하지만 미혼모는일상생활 중에 사회적으로 불평등하고 불리한 대우를 받는 등 차별을 지속적으로경험하고 있으며, 정신건강에 있어서도 여러 어려움이 있는 것으로 보고되었다. 이로인해 차별 경험과 정신건강 간의 관계를 명확히 파악하기 위한 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 미혼모의 차별 경험과 삶의 만족도 사이에서 스트레스와 우울이매개하는 이중매개모형을 바탕으로 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 방법으로 SPSS PROCESS macro model 6 를 활용하였다. 2019 년 7 월부터 9 월까지 온라인으로 실시된 ‘미혼모가족의 출산 및 양육 실태조사’의 620 명을 대상으로 분석한 결과, 미혼모가 경험하는차별은 스트레스와 우울, 그리고 삶의 만족도에 모두 부정적인 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이중매개모형을 검증한 결과, 스트레스와 우울 모두 부분매개효과가 유의미하였으며, 스트레스와 우울을 모두 거치는 이중매개효과가 유의한 것으로 분석되었다. 이와 같은연구결과를 통해 미혼모가 가지는 차별 경험이 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 미혼모의 인식 개선과 정신건강의 어려움을 해결하기 위한 시사점들을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Korean society is undergoing rapid social changes, leading to shifts in the perception and structure of families. Along with these societal transformations, the proportion of unwed mothers has been increasing. However, unwed mothers consistently experience discrimination, inequality, and unfavorable treatment in their daily lives, which has been reported to pose various challenges to their mental health. Consequently, there is a pressing need for research to clearly understand the relationship between experiences of discrimination and mental health. Accordingly, this study employed a dual mediation model, examining the mediating role of stress and depression between experiences of discrimination and life satisfaction among unwed mothers. The analysis method utilized the SPSS PROCESS macro model 6. Analyzing data collected from 620 participants through an online survey titled “Survey on Childbirth and Child-Rearing in Families of Unwed Mothers” conducted from July to September 2019, the results indicated that experiences of discrimination among unwed mothers had negative impacts on both stress, depression, and life satisfaction. The validation of the dual mediation model revealed that both stress and depression had significant indirect effects, and the dual mediation effect through both stress and depression was also statistically significant. Through these research findings, we investigated the influence of discrimination experiences on the mental health of unwed mothers and discussed implications for enhancing their awareness and addressing the challenges related to mental health.
