효당(曉堂) 김문옥(金文鈺)의 생애(生涯)와 교유(交遊)

국문 초록

본 논문은 효당(曉堂) 김문옥(金文鈺)의 생애와 교유에 대한 연구이다. 김문옥은 노사(蘆沙) 기정진(奇正鎭)으로부터 정재규(鄭載奎)와 정기(鄭琦)에게 전수한 학통을 이어 받았다. 8 세 때｢하시해계승(何時解繫繩) 비축화간접(飛逐花間蝶)｣라는 시를 지어 영남지역 유림들 로부터신동으로 불리었다. 13 세 때 사서 삼경을 독파하였다. 14 세 때 정기와의 수기문답(手記問答)을 통하여｢대학척의(大學摭義)｣와 ｢중용차의(中庸箚疑)｣를 저술하였다. 27 세 때 스승 정기를 따라 전남구례로 이거한 후 학문과 문장에 정진하여 그 명성이 중국에까지 널리 알려졌으며 국내의 여러문인들과 학문을 교류하였다. 33 세 때 일제저항운동인사들을 접견하고 항일운동을 시도한다는 이유로 왜경에게 체포되어임실구치소와 순창구치소에서 6 개월의 구속을 당했다. 해방 후 김문옥은 호남을 중심으로민족정신을 고취하기 위해 61 여명의 제자를 양성하였다. 김문옥은 국민에게 민족정신을 일깨워 주었다. 또한 항일정신이 높아 옥고까지 치루었지만아직까지 독립유공자가 되지 못하였다. 그리고 김문옥에 대한 논문은 두 편에 그치고 있다. 본고는 김문옥에 대한 본격적 연구를 위한 기초를 마련하고자 그의 생애와 교유에 대한사실을 재구(再構)하였다. 2 장에서는 생애를 연대적으로 살펴보고 3 장에서는 교유한 활동인물124 명 중 21 명을 지역별로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 당시 유학자들의 논평을 통하여 김문옥의학문과 문장을 이해하였다.

영문 초록

This paper is a study of the life and social interactions of Hyodang Kim Mun-ok. Kim Munok inherited the tradition of learning passed down by NoSa Ki Jung-jin to Jeong Jae-gyu and Jeong Ki. At the age of 13, he mastered the Four Books and Three Classics. At 14, he authored “Daehak Cheokui” and “Jungyong Chaui” through a written exchange with Jeong Gi. At the age of 27, he followed his teacher Jeong Gi to Gurye, Jeollanam-do, dedicating himself to scholarship and writing, leading to his widespread recognition, even in China. He engaged in intellectual exchanges with several domestic literati. At the age of 33, he was arrested by the Japanese authorities for meeting with anti-Japanese resistance activists and attempting to engage in anti-Japanese activities, resulting in his six-month detention at Imsil and Sunchang Detention Centers. After liberation, Kim Mun-ok trained 61 disciples primarily in the Honam region to rekindle the national spirit. Kim Mun-ok awakened the national spirit among the people and exhibited a strong anti-Japanese sentiment, yet he has not received official recognition as an independence patriot. With only two papers dedicated to Kim Mun-ok, this paper aims to provide the foundation for a comprehensive study by reevaluating the facts of his life and social interactions. In Chapter 2, his life is examined chronologically, and in Chapter 3, his social interactions are explored, categorizing 126 active figures by region. The understanding of Kim Mun-ok's scholarship and writings is further illuminated through the comments of contemporary scholars at the time.
