드라마 <힘쎈여자 도봉순>에 나타난 한국 여성영웅서사의 계승 양상

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 TV 드라마 <힘쎈여자 도봉순>에 나타난 한국여성영웅서사의 계승양상을 살피기 위해 창작 배경, 서사, 인물 형상화를 중심으로 고소설 <박씨전>과 비교하였다. 두 작품을 분석한 결과 한국 여성영웅서사의 전통을 <힘쎈여자 도봉순>이 계승하고 있음을 확인하였다. 본고에서 도출한 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, <박씨전>과 <힘쎈여자 도봉순>은 서로 다른 시대적 배경과 주제 의식을 갖고 창작되었으나, 강한 힘을 이용해 약자를 위협하는 이들을 더 강한 힘으로 제압하고 응징하는 여성영웅의 모습을 통해 작품을 향유하는 당대의 대중들에게 대리만족의 기회와 카타르시스를 주었다. 둘째, 두 작품은 영웅의 일대기 구조를 취한다는 점, 여성영웅의 본모습이 처음에는 드러나지 않다가 밝혀지면서 집안 내부에 머물던 주인공의 영웅성이 사회로 확대되고 영웅적 면모가 완성된다는 점, 남녀의 만남과 결연이 서사 구성의 중심축이 된다는 점에서 서사적 상동성을 갖고 있다. 셋째, 두 작품에서 여성영웅의 영웅성이 표출되는 양상에서는 서로 차이가 있다. 여성의 사회 활동에 제약이 거의 없는 현대 사회의 여성 봉순은 자신의 영웅성을 직접 발현하지만, 여성의 사회 활동에 한계가 있던 조선시대의 여성 박씨는 가정 외적인 사건의 경우 시비 계화와 남편 이시백이라는 대리인을 통해 영웅성을 표출한다. 넷째, 두 작품에는 여성 영웅에 대한 상반된 시각을 가진 남성 인물이 공존한다는 점, 여성 인물의 활약상이 부각된다는 점, 여성 영웅을 통해 변화하는 인물들이 등장한다는 점에서 유사하다.

영문 초록

This study aims to investigate the inheritance patterns of Korea's heroine narrative in the TV drama The Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon by comparing it with the old novel Pakssijeon with a focus on creative backgrounds, narratives, and character embodiment. The analysis results of the two works show that the drama inherits the tradition of Korea's heroine narrative. The findings were as follows: first, the two works were created against different backgrounds of the times and under different thematic consciousness, but they both offered a chance for vicarious satisfaction and catharsis to the public of their times that enjoyed them by depicting heroines that suppressed and punished those who threatened the weak based on powerful strength with their even more powerful strength. Secondly, the two works have narrative homology in that they are in the structure of a hero biography, that the real heroic aspects of heroines remaining inside the home are first hidden, gradually expand to society, and complete their heroic appearance, and that the encounter and relationship of the male and female character are the central axis of narrative composition. Thirdly, the two works are different in the patterns of a heroine's heroic nature being expressed. While Bong-soon living in the modern society where women face few limitations with their social activities manifests her heroic nature herself, Pakssi living in Joseon where women suffered limitations with their social activities manifests her heroic nature via her agents including her maid Gyehwa and her husband Lee Si-baek in events that happened outside her family. Finally, the two works are similar in that there are male characters that have opposite viewpoints of a heroine, that the activities of female characters are highlighted, and that characters change due to heroines.
