한중 설화에 나타난 선생 형상 비교 연구

국문 초록

본고에서는 기존에 한국의 선생설화 연구가 중국에 비해 일천했고, 한국과 중국의 초학자의 전통교육을 맡고 있는 선생의 처지에 유사성이 많은 점에 착안하여 전국적으로 수집한 한중설화자료를 대상으로 선생 형상을 비교고찰하고자 하였다. 한국과 중국의 대표적 구비문학수집자료를 대상으로 정리한 선생관련 설화를 선생의 임용과 처지, 인품 유무, 학식 여부 등으로 분류하여 고찰한 결과 ‘임용형’, ‘처지형’, ‘덕망형’, ‘용감형’, ‘식탐형’, ‘호색형’, ‘유치형’, ‘편애형’, ‘가장형’, ‘잔꾀형’, ‘박학형’, ‘무식형’ 등 12가지 형상으로 구분되었다. 이중 중국설화에만 보이는 선생 형상은 ‘무식형’, ‘가장형’, ‘잔꾀형’이며, 한국설화에만 보이는 선생형상은 ‘유치형’과 ‘편애형’이었다. 한중설화에 공통적으로 보이는 선생 형상도 내용상에서는 공통점보다는 차이점이 컸는데 그 근본적인 이유로는 한국설화는 학생과의 관계에 있어서 ‘교육자’로서의 학식과 인품을 갖춘 선생이냐 여부를 중시한다면 중국설화는 학생에게 제대로 된 지식을 전달할 수 있느냐 여부를 중시하고 있으며, 환경적으로 ‘유식한 선생’을 선발할 수 없는 사회 상황에 대해서도 비판하고 있기 때문이다.

영문 초록

This paper tried to compare and examine the shape of teachers based on the fact that the study of teacher tales in Korea was lower than in China, and there were many similarities in the situation of teachers in charge of traditional education of Korean and Chinese beginners. The teacher-related folktales, which are organized for the representative literature collection data of Korea and China, are classified according to the teacher's appointment, situation, personality, and learning status It was classified into 12 types, including “Appointment type”, “Situation type”, “Venerable type”, “Brave type”, “Gluttony type”, “Lascivious type”, “Childish type”, “Favorite type”, “Pretending type”, “Tricster type”, “Polymathy type”, and “Informal type”. Among them, the teacher shapes seen only in Chinese tales were “Informal type”, “Pretending type” and “Tricster type”, and the teacher shapes seen only in Korean tales were “Childish type” and “Favorite type”. The teacher's shape, which is common to Korean-Chinese tales, also differed more than in terms of content. The fundamental reason for this is that if Korean tales value whether they are teachers with knowledge and character as educators in their relationship with students, Chinese tales value whether they can deliver proper knowledge to students and criticize social situations in which they cannot select “Knowledgeable teachers” environmentally.
