대학등록금에 미치는 영향요인과 지역별 차이에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 공간회귀모형을 활용하여 대학 등록금 인상에 영향을 미치는 요소를 분석한다. 다양한 공간 상관성 분석 방법을 활용하여 대학 간 등록금의 지리적 상관관계를 조사하고, 지역별 대학의 등록금 차이와 특징을 분석한다. 이를 위해 2022년 한국 총 193개의 4년제 일반 및 교육대학과 174개의 전문대학을 연구대상으로, QGIS 프로그램을 사용하여 대학들의 분포 집중 경향을 관찰하고 Moran 지수 및 LISA 지수 분석을 통해 대학 등록금의 공간적 상관관계를 파악하며, 마지막으로 공간회귀모형을 사용하여 대학 등록금 인상에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과 중 하나는 대학 등록금 간에 공간적 상관관계가 파악되었다. 인접한 대학들의 등록금은 함께 오르거나 내릴 가능성이 높으며, 등록금이 높은 대학들이 지리적으로 집중되는 경향을 확인하였다. 또한, 이 연구는 국내외의 선행 연구를 기반으로 대학 등록금에 영향을 미치는 내부 결정요인과 외부 결정요인을 파악하고, 등록금 인상에 어떤 요인이 영향을 미치는지를 구체적으로 분석하고 해석하였다. 입학 정원, 신입생 경쟁률, 외국인 학생 수, 1인당 장학금, 기숙사 수용률, 1인당 도서 자료 수 및 1인당 지역 총소득은 대학 등록금에 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 반면에 1인당 교육비는 대학 등록금에 음(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 대학 등록금 인상 여부는 여러 가지 요소를 종합적으로 고려되어야 하며, 투명하고 공정해야 한다. 교육 자원이 더 균형 있게 분배되고, 교육 품질을 유지하면서도 학생들의 경제적 부담이 과도하게 증가하지 않기 위해서는 정부, 대학, 그리고 학생들 간의 유기적인 협력으로 공정한 등록금 정책이 만들어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the factors influencing tuition fee increases using spatial regression models. It employs various spatial correlation analysis methods to investigate the geographical correlation of tuition fees among universities and analyzes regional differences and characteristics in tuition fees. To do this, the study focuses on a total of 193 four-year general and education universities and 174 vocational colleges in South Korea in 2022. It observes the concentration tendencies of university distributions using the QGIS program, identifies spatial correlations of university tuition fees through Moran's Index and LISA Index analyses, and finally, utilizes spatial regression models to analyze the factors affecting tuition fee increases. One of the key findings of this research is the identification of spatial correlations among university tuition fees. Tuition fees at adjacent universities are more likely to rise or fall together, and there is a tendency for high tuition fee universities to be geographically concentrated. Additionally, based on prior domestic and international research, this study uncovers internal and external determinants influencing university tuition fees. It uses spatial regression models to specifically analyze and interpret which factors impact tuition fee increases. Admission capacity, freshman competition rate, number of international students, per capita scholarships, dormitory occupancy rate, per capita library resources, and per capita regional total income were confirmed to have a positive (+) impact on university tuition fees, while per capita educational expenses showed a negative (-) impact. The decision to increase university tuition fees should be made by considering multiple factors and should be transparent and fair. To ensure a more equitable distribution of educational resources and prevent excessive economic burdens on students while maintaining educational quality, a fair tuition fee policy should be developed through organic cooperation between the government, universities, and students.
