적벽가의 형성과 난리 체험

국문 초록

<적벽가> 형성 문제에 대해서는 그 간 <삼국지연의> 적벽대전 전후의 사건에 조선 후기 민중 의식이 균열을 일으켜 새로운 사설들을 첨가함으로써 이루어졌다고 보았다. 이때 균열을 일으킨 민중 의식은 개인의 일상을 파괴하는 명분없는 국가적 차원의 대사에 대한 비판과, 조선 후기 현실의 피폐상을 해결해 줄 수 있는 긍정적 지도자에 대한 희구라 할 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 본고에서는 이만으로는 부족한 점이 있다고 보고, <삼국지연의>의 독서 체험을 바탕으로 하여 <적벽가>를 형성시킨 근원적인 배경으로서, 양란 이후 당시 18-19세기에 격화된 亂의 체험을 주목해야 한다는 문제를 제기하였다. 이 점을 본고에서는 1728년 무신란 때 馬兵으로 출전했던 한 군사의 수기 <난리가>와 <적벽가>에 나타난 정서와 의식을 비교함으로써 검증하고자 하였다. 검토 결과, <난리가>에는 고향을 돌아 보며 눈물만 뿌리는 군사들, 개인적 삶의 소중함, 일부 장수들에 대한 부정적 시각, 긍정적 장수상의 찬양 등이 그려져 있어 <적벽가>의 조조측 군사들의 형상 및 의식과 상통하는 점이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 추후 더 깊이 있는 고찰이 있어야 하겠으나, 이 작업만으로도 일단, <삼국지연의> 서사의 틈 속으로 침투하여 새로운 사설을 첨가함으로써 <적벽가>를 형성시킨 데에는, 당시 전란을 사회적 배경으로 한, 하층민의 의식이 매개적 작용을 했을 가능성이 있다는 점을 드러낼 수 있었다고 본다.

영문 초록

The Formation of and War ExperiencesJeong, Choong KwonAs to the formation of , previous researches viewed that it was formed by adding several new accounts to the great battle at Jeokbyeok in as people’s consciousness was cracked before and after the battle. Consciousness observed in the newly added accounts is criticism of national wars destroying individual people’s daily life and desire for the image of positive leaders. However, previous researches vaguely saw that this consciousness originated from people’s consciousness in the late Chosun Dynasty addition to their reading of . In fact, however, it is likely that the experiences in violent commotions in the 18th and 19th centuries following the two wars in the 17th century might play an intermediary role. This possibility was examined through , the memoirs of a soldier who participated in the fight against the uprising of military officials in 1728. describes soldiers shedding tears out of homesickness, the value of personal life, negative views against some generals, praises for generals of positive image, etc. These coincide with the state and consciousness of Jojo’s soldiers in . Accordingly, it is considered possible that the consciousness of soldiers who participated in the battles might work as a medium in the formation of by penetrating into the lines of and adding new accounts. Of course, this paper does not insist that the uprising of military officials was directly related to or that the formation of was affected by the wars in those days. However, it is considered provable that the consciousness of soldiers who participated in wars frequent during the 17th and 18th centuries might be in some correlation with the consciousness of the author of .
