이 글은 보성소리 춘향가, 춘향가 장재백 소리책(1925), 완판본 『열여춘향슈졀가(1912), 이화중선 명창의 음반(1928-1941), 초창기 유성기음반 중 김세종 제로 춘향가로 생각되는 음반 등의 상관관계를 밝힘으로써 현행 보성소리 춘향가의 위상과 판소리사적 의미를 밝힌 것이다.김세종의 소리는 당대에 가장 진보적인 소리였으며, 시대의 변화에 따라 장재백, 이화중선, 당대 여려 여류명창의 소리로 이어지면서 대중적으로도 가장 성공한 바디였다. 그로 인해 완판본 춘향전이 출판되었고, 이화중선 음반은 빼어난 대중성과 현대성으로 인해 큰 성공을 거두었다.이러한 판소리의 변화는 정응민에 의해서도 가속화 되었다. 정응민은 서울 생활의 경험과 서편제 판소리의 수용을 통해 김세종 제를 매우 현대적인 판소리로 발전시켰다. 정응민의 보성소리가 현대 판소리의 중심이 된 것은 시대에 따른 변화를 적극 수용하고, 부단하고 치열하게 창작의 의지를 불태우면서 앞서나간 결과라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The Formative Process of Bosung Style Pansori and Jangjaebaek's Chunhyang-ga PansoriBae, Yeon HyungThis paper aims to shed light on the status of the Bosung Style Chunhyang-ga Pansori and its significance in the history of Pansori. The relationship among Bosung Style Chunhyang-ga Pansori, Jangjaebaek's Chunhyang-ga Pansori Lyric Books (1925), the novel Chunhyang-Jun, Story of Chunhyang (Junju, 1912), Leehwajungsun's SP Records, and Chunhyang-ga Pansori in Kimsejong Style among the SP records during the early period is examined.Kimsejong Style Pasori was ahead of the pack in terms of its contemporaries. As time passed, this style was handed down to various female master singers including Jangjaebaek and Leehwajungsun, consequently becoming the most popular and successful Pansori number. Owing to its tremendous success, it was printed as Chunhyang-Jun, Story of Chunhyang Novel in 1912, while Leehwajungsun's SP record became widely popular for its exceptional appeal and modernity.Such a change in Pansori was accelerated even further by Jungeungmin, who developed the Kimsejong Style into a very modern Pansori by reflecting his life in Seoul and introducing Seopyeonje(Western Style) Pansori. This is called Bosung Style Pansori or Jungeungmin Style Pansori. This refinement was made possible by the active adaptation of the changes of the times and continuing the will to create a new art that made Jungeungmin Style Pansori became the center of modern Pansori.
