국문 초록

본 논문은 세 부분으로 구성된다. 제1장은 민중신학의 본질, 목적과 근거에 대해 논술한다. 제2장은 제1세대 민중신학이 남긴 문제점을 고찰하고, 제3장은 한국 신학과 교회를 위한 민중신학의 공헌이 무엇인가를 제시한다. 본질적으로 민중신학은 정치적 억압, 경제적 착취와 빈곤, 사회적 소외와 차별로부터 민중의 해방과 정의로운 사회체제를 목적으로 가진 신학으로 규정된다. 민중신학의 성서적 근거는 구약성서의 히브리와 암하아레츠에게서 일어난 출애굽 사건, 신약성서 공관복음서의 오클로스와 함께 일어난 “예수사건”에 있는 것으로 기술된다. 민중신학이 남긴 문제점 가운데 가장 중요한 문제는 예수와 민중, 예수사건과 민중사건의 동일화에 있는 것으로 지적된다. 양자가 동일화될 경우, 예수는 사라지고 민중만 있게 되며, 민중이 자기구원과 사회구원을 이루어야 할 주체로, 하나님 나라를 이 땅 위에 세워야 할 세계사의 주체로 등장하게 된다. 그러나 이기적 본성과 욕망과 욕정을 버릴 수 없는 인간이 자기 자신과 사회를 구원하고, 하나님의 나라를 이 땅 위에 세운다는 것은 불가능함을 제2장은 기술한다. 제3장은 여러 가지 문제점들과 함께 신학과 교회를 위해 남긴 민중신학의 공헌을 기술한다. 민중신학의 가장 중요한 신학적 공헌은 예수와 세상의 “작은 형제들”의 분리될 수 없는 관계성을 드러내며, 예수사건은 개인의 영적 구원의 차원을 넘어, 정의로운 세계를 이루고자 하는 민중들의 투쟁과 연관된 세계사적 의미를 가진 사건으로 파악되어야 하며, 교회는 세상의 힘없고 가난한 사람들의 교회, 그들을 위해 일하는 교회가 되어야 하며, 세계는 사실상 민중을 통해 유지된다는 사실을 드러낸 점에 있다. 결론에서 본 논문은, 민중신학은 한국신학의 귀중한 유산으로 보존되는 동시에, 새로운 시대적 상황 속에서 새롭게 발전되고, 토론에 머물지 않고 학문적 체계를 갖추어야 할 것을 강조한다.

영문 초록

This essay is constructed in three chapters. The first chapter represents the essence, aim and the biblical ground of Minjung Theology. The second chapter represents its problems, and the third chapter the contributions of Minjung Theology for theology and church in Korea. Minjung Theology has the liberation of Minjung, the arm, powerless people in Korean society, from their political oppression, economical exploitation and poverty, and the social estrangement as its essence, that is as its aim. The biblical ground of Minjung Theology consists in the Exodus of Hebrews in the Old Testament, and Jesus Movement for Ochlos in the synoptic gospel of the New Testament. The second chapter finds the most important problem of Minjung Theology in the identification of Jesus and Minjung, Jesus Movement and Minjung Movement. Through the identification Jesus is abolished into Minjung, and the Minjung appears now as the subject of their own salvation and the salvation of society. They are now he subject of world history who should establish the Kingdom of God on earth. The third chapter represents the contributions of Minjung Theology for the theology and church in Korea. Its important contributions consists in the representation of the intimate relationship of Jesus and Minjung, the meaning of Jesus Movement for the whole world history in regard to the struggles of Minjung for their freedom and justice, toward a new society of justice. Therefore the church must be the community of Minjung, that is the community of the arm and powerless people, community for them. It is a very important contribution of Minjung Theology to show the fact that the world of human beings is maintained in reality through Minjung. The world cannot be sustained without Minjung. As conclusion the essay emphasizes that Minjung Theology should be preserved as a valuable theological heritage of Korea, and the perception of the new obligations in the new situation of the world with its problems. The conclusion does not forget the scientific duty of Minjung Theology, it should not stay in dialogues, but develop itself as a theoretical system, because it can disappear if it has no theoretical system.
