국문 초록

이 논문은 정신분석학적 접근법을 통해 <탑>에 나타난 홍상수 영화의 변화 지점을 드러내면서, 우리 시대 욕망과 환상, 그리고 그 환상을 가로지르는 주체화의 (불)가능성을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. <탑>의 주인공 병수는 ‘탑’에 거주하면서 각 층에서 전혀 다른 모습을 보인다. 이것은 그의 성향 자체의 변화라기보다는, 그가 타자의 욕망의 대상a가 되기를 욕망한 것에서 비롯된 것이다. 이는 히스테리 증상이라고 할 수 있다. 히스테리증은 타자가 무엇을 욕망하는지 알아내서 타자의 욕망을 지속시킬 수 있는 특정한 대상이 되려고 하는 것이기 때문이다. 그리고 이 때문에 히스테리증은 ‘환상 횡단’의 가능성을 내포하게 된다. 병수에게서도 이런 환상의 횡단이 반복적으로 나타난다. 그러나 그의 환상 횡단은 주체화까지 이어지지 못한다. 자신이 욕망하는 대상a에 이미 균열이 내재되어 있다는 것을 직시하지 못하고 다른 환상이나 대타자로 봉합하려 하기 때문이다. 그가 환상을 유지하려 하는 한, 그는 실재를 마주할 필요가 없어지는 것이다. 적지 않은 동시대인이 히스테리증으로 진단된다. 그러나 바로 이 때문에 환상을 횡단하고 주체화의 여정에 오를 수 있게 된다. <탑>은 그 (불)가능성을 보여주는 영화라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the desires and fantasies of our time, and the (im)possibility of subjectification that traverse the fantasies, while revealing the changing points of Hong Sang-soo's films in through a psychoanalytic approach. Byeong=soo, the main character of , shows a completely different appearance on each floor while living in the ‘Tower’. This is not because his disposition itself has changed, but because he desires to become the ‘object a’ of others’ desire. This can be called hysterical symptoms. It is because hysteria is trying to find out what the other desires and become a specific object that can sustain the other's desire. And because of this, hysteria implies the possibility of traversing the fantasy. Even in Byung-soo, this kind of fantasy traversal appears repeatedly. However, his fantasy traversal does not lead to subjectification. This is because he fails to face up to the fact that there is already a gap(hole) in the ‘object a’ he desires and tries to seal it up with another fantasy or the Other. As long as he maintains the fantasies, he does not have to face the Real. Not a few of our contemporaries are diagnosed with hysteria. However, precisely because of this, it is possible to traverse fantasy and embark on a journey of subjectification. can be said to be a movie that shows that (im)possibility.
