영문 초록

This paper aims at presenting a model to incorporate pertinent factors to foster firms' longevity for centuries. Longevity is one of the emerging subjects in the field of family business research, reflecting the concern for the short lives of family firms, importance of their longevity, and responding the call for researches on this subject. Reflecting the difficulties to survive beyond three generations for approximately a century, the present paper chooses to focus on the longevity for centuries. The paper, first reviewing the literatures, and then reviews the self-sacrificed conducts of long-lived family firms in the context of the Earthquake and Tsunami disaster of March, 2011, in order to present a model to compound factors to foster firms' longevity over centuries in a comprehensive manner. The paper concludes with implications both academic as well as pragmatic.
