탄둔의 ‘무협영화 3부작’ 음악의 ‘중서융합’ 요소 연구

국문 초록

중국 현대음악의 대표적인 작곡가 탄둔(譚盾)은 <와호장룡(臥虎藏龍)>, <영웅(英雄)>, <야연(夜宴)> 등 '무협영화 3부작(武侠三部曲)' 음악을 잇달아 작업하며 중화권 영화음악 분야에서 가장 주목받는 성과를 내고 있다. 그는 중국과 서양의 음악 요소를 절묘하게 융합하여 중국적 전통 사상을 적극적으로 부여하는 특징으로 유명하다. 이 작품들의 의미는 중국의 문화를 통해 국제 사회와 소통하고자 하는 전략을 조망할 수 있는 측면에서 강조될 필요가 있다. 세 편의 영화음악을 작곡한 탄둔은 작곡 기법적인 측면에서 창작 양식의 일관성을 보여주면서도 영화 서사의 내용과 형식에 따라 구체적인 음악 배치에는 다소 차별성을 드러내고 있다. 이에 본문은 '무협영화 3부작'으로 지칭된 <와호장룡>, <영웅>, <야연>의 음악 테마 설계를 중심으로, 영화의 서사와 음악의 조화를 일차적으로 분석 비교하고 이를 토대로 탄둔이 부각한 '중서융합', 즉 중서악기 융합, 중서악기의 연주기법과 음색이 어떻게 융합되어 체현되었는지를 논의하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Tan Dun, a representative composer of modern Chinese music, has been producing the most notable achievements in the field of Chinese film music by working on “Three Trilogy of Martial Arts” such as “Crouching tiger Hidden Dragon”, “The Heroes” and “The Banquet”. He is famous for his characteristics of actively giving traditional Chinese ideas by exquisitely converging Chinese and Western music elements. These works need to be emphasized in that they can explore strategies to communicate with the international community through Chinese culture. Tandun, who composed three film music, represents consistency in creative style in terms of composition technique, while showing some difference in specific music arrangement depending on the content and form of the film narrative. Therefore, this research focuses on the music theme design of “Crouching tiger Hidden Dragon”, “The Heroes” and “The Banquet”, which are referred to as “Musical Movie Trilogy”, analyzes and compares the film's narrative and music harmony firstly, then discusses how Western music was fused and embodied with the elements of traditional Chinese music.
