국문 초록

기후위기 시대의 생태정의와 사회정의 실현은 양자택일의 문제가 아니다. 생태정의와 사회정의는 상호 얽혀있고, 동시적 실현을 추구해야 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 최근에 융합적 인문분야로 대두된 탈식민적 생태비평과 초객체 이론을 탐구하고 이러한 사유들이 주는 생태신학적 함의를 찾고자 한다. 첫 번째 탐구 대상인 탈식민적 생태비평은 식민주의 억압 구조 비판에 소홀한 기존 생태주의와 인간중심적 한계를 노출한 기존 탈식민주의에 대안적 담론을 제공한다. 두 번째 탐구 대상은 초객체 이론이다. 인간 객체의 한계로 인식 불가능하지만 어디에나 존재하는‘초객체’(hyperobject) 개념을 지구 온난화에 적용할 때 기후위기가 동반하는 자연적 현상과 사회적 현상을 더 잘 이해할 수 있다. 이러한 새로운 생태적 사유들은 기존 생태신학의 방법, 언어의 수정을 요구한다. 대표적 적용은 다음과 같다. 신학자들은 인간 및 동료 피조물의 고통의 원인으로 (신)식민주의의 영향사를 새롭게 고려해야 하며 비인간 피조물들을 능동성, 자율성, 독립성을 가진 객체로 전제하는 생태신학을 재구성할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

In the age of climate crisis, the fulfillment of ecological and social justice is co-related and should be pursued together. To this end, this paper researches postcolonial ecocriticism and hyperobject theory, two approaches which have recently emerged in the sphere of ecological thinking. The former provides us an alternative discourse for both traditional ecological thought which has ignored a critique against the oppressive structure of (neo) colonialism and postcolonialism which reveals anthropocentric limits. The latter helps us understand natural and social phenomena related to the climate crisis when we apply hyperobject theory. This is impossible to be perceived within the limit of human perception, but exists everywhere and is related to global warming. These new ecological thoughts ask us to modify pre-established methods and terms of ecological theology. The following are typical applications. Theologians needs to newly consider a history of the effect of (neo) colonialism as one of the main causes for sufferings of both humans and fellow creatures, and to reconstruct an ecological theology which assumes non-human creatures as active, free, and independent beings/objects.
