한국어 학습자의 종성 비음 지각 양상 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 중국어와 베트남어를 모어로 하는 학습자를 대상으로 한국어 종성 비음의 지각에 있어서 모국어의 음운체계, 변이음, 음소결합제약이 어떠한영향을 미치는지 조사하는 것을 목적으로 삼았다. 본고의 피험자는 중급 단계의 중국인 학습자 9명과 베트남 학습자 9명이다. 이들 피험자에게 비음 종성음절 21개(단모음 7개×비음 종성 3개)와 단모음 7개로 총 28음절을 들려주고들은 것을 쓰게 하여 504개(28개 자극음×18명)의 답을 수집하였다. 지각 실험을 통해 중국인 학습자의 경우 /ㅁ/과 /ㅇ/에서 베트남 학습자보다 정지각률이낮은 것을 확인하였다. 또한 선행 모음과의 결합 관계에 있어서, 중국인 학습자는 모국어에 음소결합제약이 있는 모음 /애/, /오/와 종성 /ㄴ/, /ㅇ/이 결합하는 환경에서, 베트남 학습자는 모국어에서 비음 종성이 변이음으로 실현되는원순모음 /오/, /우/와 연구개비음 /ㅇ/이 결합하는 환경에서 종성 지각에 어려움을 겪는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 두 언어권 학습자의 종성비음 지각은 모국어의 변이음과 음소배열제약의 영향으로 결합하는 모음에따라 지각 양상이 일관적이지 않음을 밝혔다는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study was designed to investigate how the phonology, allophones, and phonotactic constraints in their mother tongue of Chinese and Vietnamese students of the Korean language affect their perceptions of nasal consonant endings of Korean. The subjects were made up of 9 Chinese students and 9 Vietnamese students at the intermediate level. They were instructed to listen to and dictate 28 syllables 21 nasal consonant ending syllables and 7 short vowels, In this experiment of the perceptions, it was found that the Chinese participants had a lower positive perception ratio of /ㅁ/ and /ㅇ/ than their Vietnamese counterparts and that when it came to the combination with the preceding vowel, the Chinese participants experienced difficulties in perceiving final consonants when vowels like /애/ and /오/ and consonant endings like / ㄴ/ and /ㅇ/ are combined, which is subject to phonotactic constraints in their mother tongue, while the Vietnamese participants did so when round vowels / 오/ and /우/ and velar nasal /ㅇ/ are combined, given that nasal consonant endings are realized as allophones in their mother tongue.
