국문 초록

본 연구는 Giorgi 현상학적 연구방법론을 적용하여 영재 내담자들의 상담경험의 본질적 의미를 이해함으로써 보다 효과적인 영재상담을 모색하는 데 주된 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 영재교육대상자 상담경험에서 형식적·내용적 특성이 아닌 구체적인 실제 상황에서 다양한 현상들을 체험하면서 살아가고 있는 일상적 세계를 드러내고자 했다. 이에 의식적 경험의 배후에 있는 생생한 경험세계와 현상을 있는 그대로 이해할 수 있는, 살아 있는 경험의 본질적 의미를 밝히는 질적 연구를 수행했다. 전국의 영재교육대상자 6명을 대상으로 그들이 주관적으로 구성한 상담 경험에 대해 Giorgi 연구방법을 적용하여 범주들을 관통하는 의미단위, 소주제, 본질적 주제를 통합 추출함으로써 심리치료적 측면에서 의미 구조를 재구성했다. 최종 도출된 본질적 주제는 ‘안전한 상담에서 성찰’, ‘영재 정체성의 고통’, ‘환경 부적응 문제’이다. 이러한 연구 결과의 의미와 영재상담에 시사하는 경험적 함의 및 추후 연구를 위한 제언을 논의했다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of this study is to understand the essential meaning of the counseling experience of gifted youths in order to improve the effectiveness of counseling for the gifted by applying the Giorgi phenomenological methodology. To this end, we attempted to reveal from the counseling experience the everyday world in which the youth participants in gifted education live while experiencing various phenomena in the context of specific real situations, not formal or content-wise characteristics. Therefore, a qualitative study was conducted to reveal the essential meaning of the gifted youths’ lived experiences through which we can understand the vivid experiential world and phenomena behind their reported conscious experiences. A semantic structure was reconstructed in terms of the psychotherapeutic aspect through integrating and extracting meaning units, sub-themes, essential themes that penetrate the categories by applying the Giorgi’s method concerning the counseling experiences subjectively constructed by 6 gifted education participants nationwide. The finally derived essential themes are ‘reflection within safe counseling context’, ‘the pain of identity as a gifted person,’ and ‘maladjustment to one’s environment’. The meaning and empirical implications of these findings for counseling for the gifted and suggestions for future research were discussed.
