국문 초록

2020년 코로나19 팬데믹은 관광산업 뿐 아니라 시니어 여행자의 삶에도 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 은퇴 후 적극적으로 여행을 계획했던 시니어들에게 팬데믹은 새로운 제약요인이 되었고, 여가 라이프스타일을 변화시켰다. 이 연구의 목적은 코로나19 팬데믹 시기에 시니어 여행자들의 여행제약과 협상 과정을 심층적으로 탐구하는 것이다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 시니어 9명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰하였으며, 근거이론 방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 총 51개의 개념과 18개의 하위범주, 9개의 범주가 도출되었다. 중심 현상은 코로나19 팬데믹 시기 여행제약 인식으로 나타났고, 이러한 제약을 협상하기 위한 작용/상호작용 전략으로 여행 지속하기, 기존 여가 몰입하기, 새로운 여가 도전하기 등이 도출되었다. 팬데믹에 의한 여행제약을 경험한 연구 참여자들은 결과적으로는 일상을 재발견하고 감사하는 계기를 갖는 긍정적인 인식 변화를 경험하였고, 여가 라이프스타일의 추구 경로가 여행 회귀성, 여가 회귀성, 여가 다양성 등으로 구분되어 변화하는 것을 확인하였다. 이를 기반으로 패러다임 모형을 제시하였고, 핵심범주로 ‘코로나19 시기 여행제약 협상을 통해 한 단계 발전된 여가 향유적 삶으로 나아가기’를 도출하였다. 코로나19 시기의 시니어 여행제약 협상 과정은 코로나 여행제약이라는 특수한 상황 속에서 자신만의 방법을 찾아 다양한 협상 전략을 수행함으로써 코로나19 이전과는 또 다른 모습의 여가 향유적 삶으로 발전해 나아가는 과정이라고 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 팬데믹이라는 새로운 현상 속에서 시니어 여행자의 제약 협상 과정을 심층적으로 분석하고, 모형을 제시하였다는 점에서 이론적 의의가 있다. 또한, 연구 결과에서 발견한 협상 전략, 협상 영향요인, 유형 구분은 시니어 여가·관광 정책과 실무에 유용한 시사점을 준다.

영문 초록

The 2020 coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on the tourism industry as well as the lives of senior travelers. The pandemic imposed a new constraint on seniors who actively planned to travel after retirement, altering their leisure lifestyle. The goal of this research is to delve deeply into the travel constraints and negotiation process of senior travelers during the corona pandemic. In order to achieve the study's goal, in-depth interviews with 9 seniors were conducted and analyzed using the grounded theory method. The analysis produced a total of 51 concepts, 18 subcategories, and 9 categories. During the corona pandemic, the central phenomenon was the recognition of travel constraints, and action/interaction strategies included continuing to travel, engaging in existing leisure activities, and trying new leisure activities. Participants in the study who were restricted from traveling due to the pandemic experienced a positive shift in perception, allowing them to rediscover and appreciate their daily lives, and the path to pursue a leisure lifestyle was divided into travel regression, leisure regression, and leisure diversity. Based on this, a paradigm model was presented, and the core category'moving to a more advanced leisure life through negotiation of travel constraints during the COVID-19 period' was derived. This study is theoretically significant because it thoroughly examined the senior traveler's constraint negotiation process and presented a model for the new phenomenon of a pandemic. Furthermore, the research findings on negotiation strategy, negotiation influencing factors, and type classification have important implications for senior leisure and tourism policies and practices.
