국문 초록

이 연구의 목표는 진지한 여가의 관점에서 중장년 여성의 트로트 팬덤참여가 지니는 내재적 의미와 역할을 탐구하는 것이다. 트로트 팬덤이라는 새로운 문화현상을 이해하기 위해 현상학적 질적연구를 수행했으며, 트로트 팬덤 중 규모와 영향력이 가장 큰 ‘영웅시대’ 회원 14명과 심층 인터뷰를 실시했다. 질적 자료는 현상학적 연구방법과 주제별 분석법을 통해 분석했다. 그 결과, 연구참여자들은 트로트 팬덤참여를 통해 진지한 여가의 6가지 속성인 인내, 개인적 노력, 여가 경력, 지속가능한 편익, 독특한 기풍, 동일시를 경험했고, 이는 다시 개인에게 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 진지한 여가로서의 팬덤참여는 연구참여자들에게 나도 무언가를 해낼 수 있다는 자부심과 뿌듯함을 안겨주었으며, 이는 주류문화의 변방에 있던 중장년 여성들이 사회문화적으로 주목받는 계기가 되었다. 또한, 연구참여자들은 팬덤의 일원으로 사랑하는 스타에게 응원과 지지를 보내며, 사랑을 주는 것에 익숙했던 엄마의 역할을 되찾을 수 있었다. 마지막으로 트로트 팬덤은 대안적 사회 공동체로서 연구참여자들에게 소속감을 제공하고, 스타에 대한 개인적 감정을 온전히 이해받을 수 있는 교류의 장으로 역할하고 있었다. 이 연구는 여가의 측면에서 사회가 주목하는 대중문화현상에 대한 시의성 있는 이해를 제공했으며, 관광 및 대중문화 관련 업계에서 트로트 팬덤을 경쟁력 있는 시장으로 주목해야 하는 이유를 제시했다.

영문 초록

From the perspective of serious leisure, this study investigates the intrinsic meaning and role of middle-aged women's trot fandom participation. An empirical phenomenological study based on in-depth interviews with 14 members of Young-Woong Lim's fandom, 'Hero Generation,' was conducted to better understand the new cultural phenomenon. According to the findings of the phenomenological research methods and thematic analysis, study participants gained multiple positive experiences based on the six characteristics of serious leisure experienced through fandom participation: perseverance, significant personal effort, leisure career, durable benefit, unique ethos, and identification. As a serious leisure activity, fandom participation provided a sense of pride and empowered middle-aged women to speak out in society. Participants also had someone to whom they could express their passion and love, and they happily reclaimed their identity as mothers. Finally, the trot fandom has played an important role as an alternative social community among middle-aged women, allowing them to fully understand and share their affection for stars while also providing a strong sense of belonging. Through the lens of leisure, this study provides a timely understanding of the emerging fandom culture. It also justifies the importance of the trot fandom in the travel and pop culture industries.
