중국 돈황 벽화 요소를 응용한 도자 표현 연구

국문 초록

중앙아시아와 중국을 잇는 실크로드의 요충지이며 다양한 모습을 지닌 오아시스 도시 돈황에 4세기 부터 900여 년 동안 약 600여 개의 동굴이 형성되었으며 거의 모든 동굴에 불교와 당시의 생활상을 반 영한벽화가그려져있다. 그수많은벽화를구성하고있는요소중에서도비천의이미지는가장독창 적이라할수있는데, 본연구는그비천의이미지를도자장식재료인고온의색채유약을이용하여 재탄생시키려는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구범위는 돈황의 벽화 중에서도 북량시기를 시작으로 점차 쇠퇴 하기 시작한 당나라 말까지의 비천 이미지로 한정했으며 연구방법은 문헌과 현장조사를 시작으로 비천 의 특징을 먼저 파악한 후 고온색채유약을 활용하여 점토판에 비천의 이미지를 연출하였다. 돈황의 생 성배경과 역사를 고찰하기 위해 돈황 벽화의 시기를 북량과 북위, 서위와 북주 그리고 수나라와 당나 라로 크게 나누었고 각 시기마다 벽화에 그려진 비천의 이미지를 자세와 위치 그리고 색채 등으로 나 눠 그 구조를 분석하였다. 또한 비천 이미지를 정신미, 조형미 그리고 색채미로 분류하여 시작품을 제 작하기 전에 먼저 비천 이미지에 담겨 있는 미적 요소를 파악하고자 하였고 도자로 표현하기 위한 가 능성을 알아보기 위해 심미성 파악, 색채의 응용 그리고 제작기법 스타일 분석을 선행하였다. 시작품 제작을 위해 회화 기술과 색채에 대한 기법이 모두 절정기에 이르렀던 당나라 시대의 비천 이미지를 표본으로 삼았다. 그 비천의 이미지를 벽화의 느낌이 나도록 제작한 점토판 위에, 색유약을 붓으로 바르는 방법을 통해 오래된 역사의 흔적이 자연스럽게 배어 나오는 벽화의 느낌으로 재현하고자 하였다. 금속산화물을 사용해 제작된 색유약은 가마내에서의 요변현상과 함께 돈황 벽화의 느낌을 충분히 전달 해주었다. 이상의 연구를 통해 비천의 이미지를 현대의 미적 감성과 예술적 분석으로 재해석, 재탄생 시키고자 하였고 고대의 신비롭고 아름다운 이미지를 도자 표현 기법의 소재로 삼아 현대 도예의 표현 영역을 확장하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

About 600 caves have been formed in Dunhuang, an oasis city that connects Central Asia and China, and almost all caves have murals reflecting Buddhism and life at the time. Among the elements that make up the numerous murals, the most unique image is Apsaras. The purpose of this study is to recreate the image of Apsaras using high-temperature colored glaze, a ceramic decorative material. Among the murals of Dunhuang, the scope of the study was limited to the image of Apsaras until the end of the Tang Dynasty, which began to decline gradually, starting with literature and field surveys, and then using high-temperature colored glaze to create the image of Apsaras on clay plates. In order to examine the background and history of Dunhuang's creation, the period of Dunhuang murals was largely divided into Bukryang, Bukwi, Bukju, Sui and Tang Dynasty, and each period, the image of Apsaras painted on the murals was divided into posture, location, and color to analyze its structure. In addition, before producing the prototype by classifying the Apsaras image into emotion, beauty of formation and color, it first tried to grasp the aesthetic elements contained in the Apsaras image, and to find out the possibility of expressing it with ceramics. For the production of the starting product, the image of Apsaras from the Tang Dynasty, when both painting and color techniques reached their peak, was sampled. We tried to reproduce the image of Apsaras Stream on a clay plate with the feeling of a mural that naturally permeates traces of old history through methods such as applying it with a brush. The color glaze made using metal oxide fully conveyed the feeling of historical mural along with the changing glaze during the firing in the kiln. Through the above research, the image of Apsaras was reinterpreted and recreated through modern aesthetic sensibility and artistic analysis, and the expression area of modern ceramic was expanded by using ancient mysterious and beautiful images as the subject of ceramic expression techniques.
