니체와 매클루언에 있어서 디지털 망막 가상화 속 탈-대지화와 탈-신체화에 대한 비판적 담론

국문 초록

사회적 거리두기의 장기화로 인한 오프라인에서 온라인으로의 급격한 전환 은 오프라인의 삶에 대한 박탈감의 위상을 좀 더 분명하고 빠르게 환기시킨다. 이러한 시점에서 디지털 문화가 아날로그 문화와 건강하게 공존하기 위해서 선 결되어야 할 과제는 디스토피아적 의혹을 넘어서는 유토피아적 전망의 실현 가 능성의 담보이다. 이를 위해서는 무엇보다도 디지털 가상 세계와 접속된 우리 삶의 현주소에 대한 비판적 분석이 요청된다. 5G로 초연결되어 있는 디지털 인 류의 디지털 가상세계에 대한 비판적 분석은 진단적 문제에 대한 성찰을 경유한 다. 이때 주목해야 할 것은 세계의 모니터화와 인간의 망막화 현상이다. 즉 디지 털 세계의 역기능에 의해서 상실되고 있는 것에 대한 구체적인 파악이다. 이와 같은 맥락을 배경으로 이 글의 2장에서는 플라톤의 인간과 세계의 정체 를 우화적으로 드러내는 그의 대화편 국가의 ‘동굴의 우화(Allegory of the Cave)’를 21세기 디지털 가상 세계의 시각주의적 경향과 접목하여 분석해 보았 다. 이를 위해 우선 ‘동굴의 우화’의 동굴의 수감자들과 그림자에 대한 플라톤의 시각적 해석을 살펴보고, 나아가 그림자에서 이데아로의 초월로 인한 인간의 지 성화와 세계의 개념화 그리고 이로 인한 인간의 탈-감각화와 세계의 탈-대지화 현상을 드러내 보았다. 3장에서는 디지털 가상적 망막 세계의 탈-감각화, 탈-대 지화 현상을 알아보기 위하여 미디어 이론가 매클루언(Marshall McLuhan)의 미디어의 이해: 인간의 확장과 미디어는 마사지다를 중심으로 우선 감각의 확 장으로서의 지성의 출현으로 인한 인간의 지성화와 세계의 개념화를 살펴보고, 나아가 이것의 결과로서 인간의 탈-신체화, 세계의 탈-대지화로 인한 신체의 역- 확장과 절단 그리고 나르시스의 죽음을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 4장에서는 이분 법적 분열을 기반으로 하는 양자택일적 확장과 절단을 넘어서는 니체의 존재론 적 사유를 ‘사이존재(Zwischensein)’라는 논자의 관점에서 해석해 보았다. 이를 위해 우선 존재의 확장과 절단의 악순환적 관계에 대한 대안적 사유의 요청을 제시하고, 여기서 한 걸음 더 나아가 이 요청의 현실화로서 니체의 위버멘쉬 (Übermensch) 개념의 촉각적 의미를 사이인간이라는 해석을 통해 드러내보았 다. 이로써 단지 양자택일적으로 이분화되는 디지털 가상세계를 좀 더 풍요롭고 건강하게 할 수 있는 니체 기반의 치유적 인간관과 세계관을 포착해보았다. 그 럼으로써 논자는 자기 확장이자 자기 단절의 자기 동일성의 반영물에 갇힐 수 있는 비대면 시대의 디지털 나르시스의 염세적 세계에서 빚어지는 시각의 과도 한 확장과 촉각의 과도한 절단에 대한 물음을 니체의 21세기적 재해석 통해 답변해보았다.

영문 초록

The rapid transition from offline to online due to the compulsory social distancing situation makes the status of deprivation of offline life clearer and faster, which may not have been self-aware in the existing flow. At this point, the task that digital culture should be pre-determined for healthy coexistence with analog culture should go beyond dystopian suspicions and ensure the feasibility of utopian prospects. To this end, above all, a critical analysis of the current state of our lives connected to the digital virtual world is required. Reflections on diagnostic problems through critical analysis of digital virtual worlds of digital humans connected by 5G highlight the importance of a concrete understanding of what is being lost in the digital world’s adverse functions of monitor-ization and human retinalization of the world. Against this backdrop, Chapter 2 of the article analyzed Plato’s dialogue, “Allory of the Cave,” which reveals the identity of humans and the world, in conjunction with the visualist trends of the digital virtual world in the 21st century. To this end, Plato’s visual interpretation of cave inmates and shadows in Cave Fables was examined, and furthermore, Plato’s conceptualization of human intelligence and the conceptualization of the world, resulting from the transition from shadow to idea, and the de-sensitization of human beings and the world. Chapter 3 focuses on the media theorist Marshall McLuhan’s Understanding Media: The Extension of Man and The Medium Is the Massage to examine the human intellectualization and the conceptualization of the world as a result of Plato’s descendants. Finally, in Chapter 4, we interpreted Nietzsche’s ontological reasons beyond extensions and amputations based on dichotomous division from the perspective of the thesis “Zwischensein”. To this end, the request for alternative reasons for the vicious relationship between expansion and amputation of existence was first presented, and furthermore, the tactile meaning of Nietzsche’s Overman (Übermensch) concept as a reality of this request was revealed through the interpretation of “Zwischenmensch”. As a result, we captured a Nietzsche-based healing human and world view that can make the digital virtual world more rich and healthy.
