영산강하굿둑 건설에 따른 음식소비공간의 변화

국문 초록

본 연구는 영산강하굿둑이 건설된 이후 영산강 강변의 대표적인 장어구이 장소인 명산리와 구진포를 대상으로 영산강하굿둑 건설, 그 이후의 사회경제적 변화, 사대강사업이 이 지역의 음식 소비공간에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지를 밝히고자 한다. 명산리는 일제강점기 동안에 일본인에 의해 장어 통조림 공장과 함께 장어구이 음식점이 있어 매우 번성하였으나, 광복 이후 일본인의 철수로 과거의 명성을 계승하지 못하였다. 구진포는 1960년대 이후 번성하였으나 영산강하굿둑 건설로 자연산 장어에서 양식 장어로 전환되고 대도시 중심의 장어구이 음식문화가 형성되면서 영향력이 약화되었다. 사대강 살리기 사업은 기존의 상가 지역을 도로로 편입하면서 식당 건물이 철거되면서 일부는 장소를 옮겨 영업을 지속하였으나 일부는 사업을 포기하여 구진포의 음식문화의 장소성을 매우 약화시켰다.

영문 초록

This study aims to clarify how the construction of the Yeongsangang Estuary dam, socioeconomic changes after the construction of the Yeongsangang Estuary dam for Myeongsan-ri and Gujinpo, which are representative grilled eel sites along the Yeongsangang River, affected the food consumption space in this area. Myeongsan-ri was very prosperous during the Japanese colonial era as there was a grilled eel restaurant along with an eel canning factory by the Japanese, but after the liberation, the Japanese withdrew from the country and failed to inherit their reputation from the past. Gujinpo has flourished since the 1960s, but its influence has weakened as the construction of the Yeongsangang Estuary dam has shifted from natural eels to cultured eels and formed a large-scale grilled eels food culture. The 4-River Restoration Project was incorporated into the existing shopping district as a road, and some of the restaurant buildings were demolished, and some of them continued to operate by moving places, but some gave up the project, significantly weakening the placeness of food culture in Gujinpo.
