‘한국천주교주교회의’의 자선 담화문에 대한 비판적 담론 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국천주교주교회의가 자선 주일을 맞아 발표한 담화문 22종 중 ‘장애’, ‘장애인’이 별도로 기술되어 있는 담화문 5종을 대상으로 장애가 어떻게 구성되며, 어떤 이데올로기를 생산하고 있는지를 살펴보기 위해 할리데이의 체계기능언어학 관점에서 제시된 동사성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 한국천주교주교회의는 장애를 개인 내적인 문제로 귀결시키고 있고, 고통스러운 존재라는 인식을 확산시키고 있었다. 권력 관계적 측면에서는 장애인은 자선 행위자의 작동 결과에 따라 자신의 정체성을 부여받는 무력한 존재로 등장시켜 피동적 주체로 재현하고 있었다. 그리고 ‘우리’의 주체 안에는 ‘이들’과 ‘그들’이 포함되어 있지 않음에 따라 ‘타자 이데올로기’를 생산하고 있음을 분석하였다. 이 연구는 동사성 분석을 통해 종교담화에서 장애와 장애인을 어떻게 표상하는지 실증한 것으로 그 의미가 있다고 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines how disability is constructed and what ideology is produced by targeting 5 discourses that separately describe ‘disability’ and ‘disabled person’among 22 discourses announced by the Korean Catholic Bishops' Conference on Charity Sunday. For this purpose, we analyzed the transitivity presented from the perspective of system functional linguistics of Halliday. As a result of the analysis, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea was concluding the disability as an internal problem and spreading the perception that it is a painful existence. In terms of power relations, disabled people appeared as a helpless being given their identity according to the result of the charitable actor's operation and reproduced as a passive subject. And as ‘others’ are not included in the subject of ‘we’, it is analyzed that ‘the ideology of others’ is being produced. This study is meaningful in that it demonstrates how disabilities and people with disabilities are represented in religious discourse through transitivity analysis.
