국문 초록

서구의 민주와 자유를 남북은 전혀 다르게 해석하고 체제를 굳혔다. 북은 권력집중과 테러로 사회를 통제하고 남은 문화산업을 확대하여 보편적 의식조정으로 사회를 통합하고 있다. 사회가 범죄소설로 변했고비판이론이 사회를 의심하는27) 탐정으로 바뀌었다. 오웰(Orwell)이<1984>이란 소설을 썼고 올더스 헉슬리(Huxley)는 『멋진 신세계brave new world』를 썼다. 이것은 둘 다 서양에서 본 미래소설이지만 <1984>는 마치 북한을 의식 한듯하고 『멋진 신세계』는 남한을 예언한 느낌을 주어 한 반도를 섬뜩하게 만들고 있다. 북한은 억압과 감시로 하루도 맘 놓고 살 수 없는 폐쇄사회로 치달아 젊은이를 절망하게만들고 있다. 반면 남한은 너무 많은 정치적 자유로 우리가 병들고 있다는 사실을 적시한다. 오늘날 너무 많은 것들이 우리를 괴롭히고 있다. 대학입학, 기업, 경쟁, 광고, 섹스, 돈벌이, 오락 등에 탐닉하다보니 살아남기 위해 노력하는 과정이 마침내 한편으로 오락에 빠져 헤어나지 못하는 지경에 이른 것이다. 경쟁은 자본주의 사회의 기본을 이루지만 그 조짐이 사회주의처럼 심상치 않다. 우리의 투쟁이 글로벌리즘에 편승하여 자본주의와 시장경제체제로 인해 더욱 가속화 되고 있다. 북한은 지나치게 부자유하고 통제적 사회라면 남한은 오히려 TV매체가 오히려 무절제하게 우리를 파괴시키고 있다는 점에서 사로의 격차가 너무 지나치다. 오웰은 정보통제 상황을 두려워했고, 진실이 은폐되는 것을 두려워했고, 사회가 감옥이 되는 현실을 우려했다. 헉슬리는 비현실적 상황이 진실을 압도할까 두려워했다. 무한경쟁시대에 현대사회가 상상적 정보 과잉으로 우리를 수동적이고 이기적인 존재로 전락시키고 있다. 헉슬리가 바라본 자유주의 시민과 합리주의자들이 전제정치에는 경계태세를 늦추지 않고 있지만 ‘인간들의 무한정한 오락추구에 대한 욕망이 우리를 병들게 하고 있다’는 사실을 두려워 한 것이다. 그는 우리가 좋아서 집착하는 것이 우리를 파괴시킬까 두려워했다.

영문 초록

Recent years have seen a growing controversy about the character of North und South in Korean Peninsula. Let's have a good look at the problem first. North and South have explained differently about political liberty, and come to two different governmental systems. Two Koreas have extremely changed now. They have contrasting independent styles. North Korea seems complete under the strong control of the totalitarian society with the concentration of power and terror. On the other hand, South is under the control of the consciousness of people with the entertainment culture industry. Wealth distribution in South could promote economic growth by correcting failures in the capital market and contributing to social integration. Today' society has changed in detective stories and by critics. George Orwell wrote the novel <1984> in 1948. The individual is always subordinated to the state, and it is in part this philosophy which allows the Party to manipulate and control humanity. Aldous Huxley is an English writer who wrote the novel in 1932. warns against the dangers of the state control over new and powerful technologies. One illustration of this theme is the rigid control of reproduction through technological and medical intervention, including the surgical removal of ovaries, the Bokanovsky Process, and hypnopaedic conditioning. Another is the creation of complicated entertainment machines that generate both harmless leisure and the high levels of consumption and production that are the basis of the World State’s stability. Orwell's novel reminds us of North Korea, while Huxley of South Korea. North and South Korea drive young people to despair in their different ways, the former by suppression and watch, the latter by free competition. A free market economy drives South Korean society into the struggle of existence. Finally, they are in a chaotic state. For instance, by industrial competition, advertisement, sex, and entertainment, young people have addicted to entertaining themselves by culture games such as video games, television, gamble, Lotto, I-pad and so on. Now, we need to have an insight into the modern industrial society. Before us are so many playthings at a finger tip. Orwell was scared of the control of information by the government, while Huxley was afraid of the world of virtual realty. The age of limitless competition makes us passive in realty. Besides, it makes us morbid. We are depressive and anxious. The gap of the consciousness of political liberty between both countries are out of proportion to realty. The South Korean government has to be extremely cautious in taking sides over the international call for North Korea. We don't know how to improve the state of the totalitarian country. Let' have a new insight to both countries.
