국문 초록

오늘날 국제사회에서 중국의 부상은 동북아 국가뿐만 아니라 미국을비롯한 선진 국가들의 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 특히 중국의 급속한경제성장은 중국위협론이 제기되는 계기가 되기도 했다. 중국의 세계전략은 미중관계 뿐만 아니라 한반도와 동북아의 권력구도에도 영향을 미치고 있다. 특히, 중국의 세계전략의 변화는 남북통일을 대비하고 있는우리에게도 직접적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 미중경쟁 구도 하에서 한국에게 중국과 미국 중 하나를 선택하라고 강요받을 수 있는 상황이다. 중국은 북한에 대한 절대적 우위를 바탕으로 한반도에서의 주도권을 장악하려 하고 있는 반면에 미국은 동북아에서의 전통적 패권을 유지하려는 전략적 의도를 가지고 있는 상황이다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 미중관계는 경쟁과 협력이라는 이중적 모습을 보이고 있는 것도 사실이다. 이러한 전략구도 속에서 한국의 실리와 명분에 적합한 통일전략은 무엇인지에 대한 논의가 필요한 시점이라고 볼 수 있다. 본 논문의 연구목적은중국의 세계전략과 대한반도 전략을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 우리가추구해야 할 가장 합리적인 통일전략을 제시하는데 있다고 볼 수 있다. 이를 통해 우리는 급변하는 동북아 상황에 보다 적극적이고 능동적인통일전략 및 대안을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

영문 초록

In today’s international order, rise of China has been attracting attention of advanced countries such as the United States, as well as the neighboring countries in Northeast Asia. The rapid economic growth of China, in particular, caused the theory of China threat. China’s strategies on the world can affect both the relationship between China and the United States and the power structure in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, and the changes in the strategies can have direct effects on South Korea preparing for the reunification of North and South. Under the competition between China and the United States, China is twisting arms of South Korea in selecting either of them. China attempts to seize initiative in the Korean Peninsula on its absolute supremacy on North Korea, while the United States shows its strategic intention for maintaining the existing hegemony in Northeast Asia. Nevertheless, ethe two powers are displaying duplicity of competition and cooperation to each other. In this strategic structure, it may be time to require a discussion on reunification strategy that is appropriate for South Korea’s profit and justification. The purpose of this study is to analyze China's strategies on the world and the Korean Peninsula to present the most reasonable strategy on reunification for South Korea. With such strategy, South Korea may present more direct, active strategies and alternatives on its reunification under the rapidly-changing situation in Northeast Asia.
